We love the Head Start approach to school readiness. (Did you know there are 30 Head Start programs participating in Step Up to Quality in Nebraska?) Head Start programs recognize the importance of physical, cognitive, social and emotional development in children as they prepare for kindergarten. At the same time, Head Start also promotes equity, inclusiveness and cultural and linguistic responsiveness as essential to their programs.

I wasn’t ready for this day. 💔😭

Today, one of my babies closes a chapter at Lexie’s Little Sunshines.

William, this isn’t goodbye… it’s simply, “See you later, buddy.” ❤️

You came to us when you were only 2 months old. I still remember holding you as a tiny baby, and now here you are, growing into the funniest, sweetest, happiest little boy who is ready to take on school. Where did the time go?

People don’t always realize that when you’re a childcare provider, these children become part of your heart. We celebrate their first smiles, first words, first steps, birthdays, milestones, and so many everyday moments that become lifelong memories. Then one day, it’s time to let them spread their wings.

Your family has been so much more than daycare parents. They have become friends and people my family truly loves and appreciates. Thank you for trusting me with one of the greatest gifts anyone can give—the privilege of helping raise your little boy.

And Dalary… she’s taking this one especially hard. To her, you’ll always be “Baby Will.” She isn’t ready to say goodbye either.

William, thank you for every hug, every laugh, every silly moment, and every memory. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your story. Watching you grow has been one of the greatest blessings of my career.

Go learn, grow, make new friends, and shine as brightly as you always have. I know you’re going to do amazing things.

Just remember, our door will always be open. We can’t wait for school breaks, snow days, and summer vacation when we get to have our Baby Will back with us.

I love you so much, buddy. This isn’t the end—it’s just the beginning of your next adventure.

I’m presenting at this year’s Thriving Children, Families, and Communities Conference on September 22 in Kearney! This conference is one of Nebraska’s biggest opportunities to connect, collaborate, and problem-solve around our most pressing early childhood challenges. When strong systems and supports are in place for our youngest citizens, communities can truly thrive.

I have 2 opening available starting August 17th and 25th for a child 18 months or older. ❤️

Please note: I am not accepting infants at this time. All infant spots are currently filled through 2028.

📚 Continuing to Learn, Growing for Your Children ❤️☀️

This week I had the opportunity to attend the Reflective Supervisor Training Program through the Nebraska Resource Project for Vulnerable Young Children.

You may occasionally see me step away for trainings like this, and I want you to know why they’re so important to me.

As your childcare provider, I believe learning never stops. These trainings help me become a stronger leader, better communicator, and more thoughtful support for the children and families I serve. They give me tools to reflect, listen, build stronger relationships, and create a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Every training I attend is an investment in Lexie’s Little Sunshines and in the families who trust me with their children each day. I’m committed to providing the highest quality care possible, and continuing my education is one of the ways I honor that commitment.
