Ms. Hatt is starting today with her Hybrid CNA class. A shout out is needed for the North Dakota ACTE Teacher of the Year! This recognition is given for her commitment to students and health science careers. Her CNA students become prepared for certification and working before they graduate from high school! Very fortunate to have her on our team!

Aug 26: Open House from 4:00-6:00 pm
Aug 27: All face to face classes start!

Yes we provide bus shuttles to Red River and Central. Both pick ups are at door #1 of the building.

Sawyer Littlejohn is with the Green Farms Association. Sawyer takes Agriculture classes at the Career Impact Academy and is working for Nathan Green on his farm west of Drayton.

Nathan describes Sawyer as a hardworking and dependable young man that can be counted on to complete some of the hardest tasks without complaining. He also mentioned that he was impressed with Sawyer's ability to research vehicle maintenance tasks and complete them successfully.

Green Farms Association is a leading partner for agriculture work-based learning in our state hosting students from both the Career Impact Academy and the North Valley Career & Technology Center.

We have a 2-for-1! Jocelyn and Weston are with ChiroRx Chiropractic and Wellness.

Jocelyn has marketing responsibilities as a Community Outreach Assistant as well as providing customer service support.
Weston is a Chiropractic Technician Intern assisting and shadowing doctors with direct patient care.

Chiro Rx Chiropractic has a long history of hosting interns at both the high school and college level. Their experience gives them the capacity to host multiple interns at the same time.

Some businesses are reluctant to sign up for work-based learning as they don't feel they have the capacity to host many students. Really just hosting one is all that it takes to make a difference. If you sign up as a business partner you only hire interns when you have the need and the capacity. We don't do placements, we just facilitate the connection when you have a need and we have a qualified candidate.

Jordan Ward is at Northside Cafe. developing basic skills that will serve her well no matter what career path she chooses. Northside Cafe benefits from having Jordan there as she is dependable and hardworking.

It can be challenging for small local businesses to compete in the job market. Participating in our work-based learning program allows Northside Cafe to offer a benefit to students that does not cost them anything.

Zoe Massaquoi is with Little Miracles Inc. Child care center director Cassandra Scales states that Zoe does a tremendous job there and has found her niche working with toddlers. Zoe agrees that she enjoys this age group and has thoughts of pursuing health science course work that could lead to her working in pediatrics.

We were very excited to be part of the Xcel Energy STEM Night at the recent Grand Forks Spitfires game. The Career Impact Academy is very grateful for the strong community support, and proud of the STEM based learning opportunities being provided to students across the region!

Grady Ripley is currently a school to career intern for Altru Health System. He is working in the content area of information technology supervised by Jason DeFoe. Of course when you hear Altru you think health care and that is appropriate but it is important to realize that they provide jobs in a wide array of career paths.

Altru Health System happens to be the number one provider of IT internships for our program and we greatly appreciate what they are doing to connect students to their future careers!

Terrific opinion article provided today by the Grand Forks Herald regarding the importance of supporting both technical education and traditional education at the post-secondary level. Students have options after high school for their continuing education, and whether that is at the 4-year level, 2-year level, 1-year level, on-the-job training, apprenticeship programs, and/or military, our future workforce needs students in all of these.

That’s a good thing not just for North Dakota students, but also employers and education professionals on both sides of the traditional/tech fence.
