Our 9th Grade AVID Elective students had an exciting opportunity to tour North Dakota State University! This experience allowed students to explore campus, learn about college life, and discover opportunities available to them as they begin thinking about their futures.

A huge THANK YOU to Cory in Admissions for sharing his expertise and helping our students learn more about NDSU! We’re also grateful to our amazing tour guides for showing us around campus and to the Communications and Health and Human Sciences departments for welcoming us and giving us a closer look at their programs and spaces.

Our AVID Elective Seniors from GFC traveled to Valley Middle School today to model the AVID tutorial process and share their knowledge with our 7th and 8th grade AVID Elective students.

Through this experience, our seniors demonstrated the power of collaboration, critical thinking, and asking higher-level questions while serving as positive role models for the next generation of AVID students. We are so proud of them for showcasing their leadership skills and helping others see what it means to be an AVID student!

Last Wednesday, we officially welcomed 11 new students into our AVID family for next year’s 10th and 11th grade classes, and we could not be more excited for what’s ahead! 🎉

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the families, teachers, friends, and classmates who came out to support our students. The turnout was amazing, and it meant so much to see our future AVID students surrounded by people cheering them on as they committed to their academic and future goals.

We are also so proud of our current AVID students, who led the program and did a fantastic job speaking, organizing, and representing what AVID is all about.

Congratulations to our newest AVID students — we can’t wait to see what you accomplish! 💙💛

Our GFC 10th grade AVID students had an awesome opportunity to tour the brand new Altru Hospital here in Grand Forks yesterday! 🏥🩻🩺

Our students learned about a wide variety of careers in the medical field — not only doctors and nurses, but also the many essential support roles that help hospitals run every day. They also heard about opportunities available to them right now, including job shadowing, Scrubs Camp, and internships that can help them explore future career paths.

A huge thank you to the Altru Health System team for giving our students a firsthand look at the possibilities waiting for them in healthcare and beyond!

🏫 Valley Middle School’s 7th grade AVID Elective class toured Northland Community & Technical College yesterday!

💡 Students got to see and experience the many different hands on experiences college students get to take part in as they checked out all that this technical college in our backyard has to offer.

🙌🏻 We are so grateful for our local partnerships and the opportunities our AVID students get to take part in!

Our 9th grade GFC AVID students had an incredible day at North Dakota State University in Fargo! 🦬

They explored campus on a guided tour, spoke from a student panel, and got a firsthand look at college life. One of the highlights was visiting the Communications Department, where students interacted with current communications students and even recorded their own news broadcast!

We wrapped up the day with a great lunch and lots of excitement about future possibilities. Big thanks to NDSU for a fantastic experience—Go Bison! 💚💛

🏫 Valley Middle School’s 6th grade AVID students had the opportunity to tour Grand Forks Public Schools Career Impact Academy yesterday!

Students loved seeing the variety of CTE options available to them in high school and asked great questions!

Our 8th grade AVID elective students had a great day touring Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Moorhead! We learned so much about the trades and explored the many opportunities this campus has to offer.

A huge thank you to the M State - Moorhead Campus staff for their warm hospitality—and for the pizza! Our students left feeling inspired and excited about their futures.
