📚 Exciting News! 📚

I’m honored to share that I’ve been accepted as a Board Member as a Member-at-Large for the Indiana State Literacy Association (ISLA)!

As someone who is deeply passionate about literacy, I’m thrilled to join this incredible group of educators, advocates, and leaders who are committed to advancing reading and writing across our state.

Through this role, I’m excited to support and promote evidence-based literacy practices, amplify the voices of educators, and help ensure that every child in Indiana has access to high-quality literacy instruction.

Let’s keep spreading the joy of reading—one student, one classroom, one school, one library at a time! 💙📖

Building Words, Building Minds! 🧩📚✨

One of my favorite things about reading with my soon-to-be first grader is watching her curiosity grow beyond the story. This week, we took base words straight from the book we read together and turned them into word-building fun!

We looked at a simple word like “love” and talked about how we can add endings to make new words: “loved,” “loving,” and “loves.” She 🩷loved🩷 seeing how one little word can grow and change its meaning with just a few letters.

This little routine helps her develop morphological awareness — understanding how word parts work — and gives her spelling skills a boost, too. It’s amazing how much more confident she is when she sees patterns instead of random words to memorize.

Reading, talking, and playing with words — it’s the best kind of learning! ❤️📖✨

I just had a phenomenal time sharing insights and resources with NIESC’s Early Literacy Counsel this morning! Kudos to every educator who showed up and invested in their learning, even in the midst of May and all the end of school year crazy! 👩‍🏫🙌🏻🥳 It was a joy to share my learning and connections with morphology and supporting even our littlest of learners! 📚📖

As an educator, I have been extremely impressed with the quality of webinars offered on Indiana’s Learning Lab. I’m excited to see trainings being offered to parents on this platform as well!

Early literacy skills begin at home, and if you’re looking for more ways to support your child before they start their formal education, I encourage you to take a peek at this webinar!

He did it! 🙌🏻🥳

One of my tutoring students, beaming with pride, couldn’t wait to have his mom text me to share the amazing news that he passed his IREAD test in 2nd grade! The joy on his face is priceless, and I couldn’t be prouder of him. 🥰 His hard work, along with the dedication of his teachers, parents, and school, made this moment possible.

This isn’t the only celbration I’ve been able to share in… every one of my students who tackled IREAD this year as 2nd and 3rd graders passed IREAD!! 🎉🤩📚

Every child deserves and can experience this success when they receive the right instruction—grounded in the Science of Reading. 🧪📚 Teaching children to read is challenging, but it’s life-changing work. To every reading teacher out there: what you do matters. Keep going. You are making a difference! 🩷📖

An amazing cohort of teachers just completed their 📚LETRS📚 journey, and I had the profound priveledge to walk alongside them and serve as their local facilitator. 👩‍🏫

It’s been an incredible time trekking through the Language Essentials for Teaching Reading and Spelling, 📕📗 starting back in December of 2023… now arriving here in March 2025. 🤩 Each of these educators chose to invest in themselves to impact their students, and I couldnt be prouder to call them my colleagues. 🙌🏻🥳🎉

Our work is only beginning, but it’s exciting to celebrate this milestone that marks the work we’ve done, and the work we will continue!
