I’m not done yet… 🦩
This race was a dream and an experience I will NEVER forget.
However… it was NOT the time I wanted or the race plan I had in my head.
Finish time: 4:19:27
113th in my age group
…and I FINISHED. ❤️
I was locked into 7:30s until about mile 6.5, when I saw it…
Veyo Hill. 😳
Two straight miles of runners climbing that monster ahead of me, and suddenly my mind took over.
About that same time, the GI issues decided to join the party. 🙃 Three bathroom breaks later, I was back at it.
Mile 14 was a treat with those beautiful downhills… followed by what felt like uphills until…
Miles 18–19.
That’s when I stopped worrying about the clock, the pace, or the race I thought I was going to run.
I just decided I needed to finish.
And I did.
It wasn’t the race I planned.
It wasn’t the time I wanted.
But it was 26.2 miles of grit, hills, heat, elevation, and refusing to quit.
Marathon #8 is officially in the books. 🥹
And I’m not done yet. 🦩
Race recap continued… ❤️
