Hot Choctopus

Another successful day of wearing floral outfits to cure my winter blues, and my obsession for brooches has been single-handedly reignited by a lovely Christmas gift.

My grandmother passed several years ago, and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed wearing her brooches and window-shopping for them down Palm Springs Blvd with her as a young girl. She loved humming bird brooches the most and when we would gift them to her it put the biggest smile on her face.

I stopped wearing them after she passed, but I think now of how happy it made her to wear them and I think I’ll carry on that legacy again.

And to everyone who pulls me back when I fall into dark times…. Thank you for never giving up on me. I try my best every day to put that kindness back into the world, as though I could ever repay you all ❤️

I live in one of the hottest deserts in America. But anything less than a winter coat and scarf on these evening dog walks and I would simply perish.

Finished Product, I am obsessed with the colors! The Customer has a Heckin sweet octopus tattoo on his arm so I included it in the final product.

WIP- a slight deviation from my usual, but I do take commissions! and this lovely gentlemen requested a design to tattoo on his leg based on the song lyrics:

“if aliens are near, please tell them I am here. I’ll be the guy drunk guy with the belly and the beard”

WIP Sneak peak: horseshoe crab. Making such an ancient and bizarre creature look stylized and cute is quite difficult, but I think we’re getting there. Got to keep representing the “little guys”

Not super happy with these so I may redraw them, but sharing nonetheless for the sake of the journey. Feedback is always welcomed.

Zebra shark, (Stegastoma fasciatum), in honor of Mochi, my first shark I ever worked with and the reason I was so inspired to begin my journey as a marine biologist. Rest in Peace, sweet girl.
