🖤 VIOLET — 5YO GRADE APPALOOSA MARE 🖤

Violet is a 5-year-old grade Appaloosa mare with a solid riding foundation, real-world trail experience, athleticism, and plenty of potential for the right experienced horseman.
She is broke W/T/L, trail rides, goes over jumps, and is currently in training with me for a tune-up after sitting for a while.
Violet is a mare with a lot of personality and a strong work ethic, but she is not a beginner horse and is not suitable for an inexperienced handler. She needs a confident, experienced rider who understands young horses, establishes clear boundaries, and is comfortable working through a mare who can be opinionated.
Under saddle, Violet has never bucked, reared, or bolted with me. She can, however, become resistant when she decides she doesn't want to work and may plant her feet rather than move forward. She needs a rider who can address that appropriately and consistently. It is something that can be worked through.
My husband, a confident beginner rider, has successfully ridden her at the walk, trot, and lope, but I would still recommend an experienced rider for her overall handling and continued development.
🌲 REAL-WORLD TRAIL EXPERIENCE
Violet has been taken well beyond the arena.
I've personally ridden her on a 6-mile trail ride through a wide variety of terrain, including:
• Woods and narrow trails
• Open prairie
• Hills and rough terrain
• Gravel and grass
• Water crossings
• Riding along the beach beside the river
• Galloping along the beach
• Jumping a downed tree on the beach
She handled the changing terrain and environment well and showed herself to be a capable, willing trail horse.
She has also been ridden at home in the arena at all three gaits and is currently being lightly introduced to the barrel pattern.
🐴 HANDLING & CONTINUED TRAINING
Violet loads well and has been hauled approximately 30 minutes to trail rides. She can become impatient when standing in a stationary trailer but settles once the trailer is moving.
She stands tied and stands for fly spray.
She does need continued work with ground manners, picking up her feet, standing for the farrier, and responding appropriately to pressure. Groundwork is an area where she needs an experienced handler who can establish and maintain clear boundaries safely and consistently.
⭐ THE RIGHT HOME
Violet is not being marketed as a beginner horse or a confidence-builder.
I believe she will do best with an experienced horseman or horsewoman who wants a young mare with a job and the ability to continue developing her.
I could see her being a great fit for someone interested in ranch work, riding fence lines, working cattle, long trail rides, rough-country riding, or continuing her arena education.
She is athletic, capable, and has a good work ethic when given a job she understands. She is also still only five years old and has areas that need continued training.
The right person could have a very useful and versatile mare here.
My priority with this consignment is finding Violet a home that is genuinely appropriate for her—not simply the first person interested.

Buyers are strongly encouraged to conduct their own pre-purchase examination (PPE) with a veterinarian of their choice prior to completing a purchase. The buyer is responsible for all costs associated with any veterinary examination, testing, transportation, or other due diligence.
TEST RIDES
For liability reasons, test rides by prospective buyers are not currently permitted.
Prospective buyers are welcome to observe the horse on the ground and ask questions regarding the horse's history, training, temperament, and capabilities. I and/or my husband may ride the horse and demonstrate its abilities, including riding in the arena or on trails when appropriate. Interested parties must remain on the ground during demonstrations and may not ride the horse themselves prior to purchase.
By purchasing a horse, the buyer acknowledges that they have had the opportunity to ask questions, inspect the horse, obtain a veterinary examination, and perform any other due diligence they deem appropriate before completing the sale.
