Eastern Wayne High School Health Science students and WHOS Club members recently visited Wayne Community College for an exciting, hands-on look at careers in healthcare! Students toured the Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Medical Assisting, and Medical Laboratory programs, gaining valuable insight into the many opportunities available in the allied health field.

Yesterday Eastern Wayne FFA and Aycock High School FFA members traveled to Raleigh to attend NC FFA Day at the N.C. State Fair!

Our members joined FFA members from across North Carolina to celebrate agricultural education, hear from state leaders, and recognize the impact of agriculture and FFA throughout our state!

On Thursday, DECA students from Aycock High School, Rosewood High School, Spring Creek High, and Southern Wayne traveled to the University of Mount Olive to compete in the DECA District II Competition! Our students worked hard, showcased their skills, and earned well-deserved recognition, including several Top 10 Finalist honors! We are so proud of their accomplishments!

We also want to give a special shout-out to Stephanie Grimes, District II DECA Board Chairperson, Megan Casey, Sarah Neider, and the CBA DECA students for helping make this event such a success! Hosting 566 students, more than 75 advisors and chaperones, and approximately 60 judges is no small feat!

Throughout the day, the CBA students represented their school and our district exceptionally well. Whether competing or helping coordinate the many moving parts of the event, they demonstrated outstanding professionalism, teamwork, and leadership. They received so many positive comments about their efforts, and they deserve to be recognized for the incredible job they did!

Congratulations to all our DECA competitors, and thank you to everyone who helped make this a fantastic day for our students! 💙

Congratulations to Mr. Christopher Hicks, Wayne County’s Ag Educator of the Year!

We are so proud to celebrate Mr. Hicks, who received this prestigious award today from the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce!

We are incredibly fortunate to have an educator like Mr. Hicks in Wayne County. Through his dedication and passion for agricultural education at Eastern Wayne High School, he has made a lasting impact on his students, inspiring the next generation of agricultural leaders while serving as a role model for fellow ag educators.

Thank you, Mr. Hicks, for the difference you make in the lives of your students and for the passion you bring to agricultural education every day. This recognition is so well deserved!

Interior Design Studio students from Aycock High School took learning beyond the classroom during an exciting field trip to The Blueprint Lab! Students explored full-scale floor plans projected directly onto the floor, giving them a unique, hands-on look at how design concepts come to life in real-world spaces. 🏠📏

Mrs. Stackhouse’s Biomedical Technology students from Rosewood High School visited East Carolina University to participate in the STEM East hands-on Kool-Aid Chromatography Activity, hosted in collaboration with ECU’s Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology.

During the activity, students used column chromatography to separate the different colored dyes found in grape Kool-Aid. This technique is widely used in scientific research and industry to separate, isolate, and purify components of mixtures.

In addition to the hands-on laboratory experience, students toured ECU’s Life Sciences and Biotechnology Building and learned about the academic programs and opportunities available through the department. This experience provided students with valuable insight into real-world applications of biotechnology and potential pathways for future study and careers.

Spring Creek High Law and Justice I students turned their classroom into a courtroom for a two-day mock trial held Thursday and Friday. Using an original fictional case set in Wayne County, students portrayed prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses, a judge, jurors and courtroom staff.
