Research indicates that chess education enhances multiple areas of cognitive functioning such as critical thinking, problem-solving, pattern-recognition and short-term and long-term planning. Our curriculum emphasizes these skills as well as character-building traits such as good sportsmanship, leadership, and a willingness to learn from past mistakes. We aim to make chess learning fun through a series of engaging, often humorous lessons involving imaginative story-telling and interactive learning activities. Children become better chess players as they discover a fun hobby conducive to their academic success and a lifetime of learning.

Here is a great article about the upcoming FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities. Sully and Griffin are playing boards 1 and 2 for Team USA next month in Uzbekistan:

Forty teams have entered the 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities, setting a new participation record for the competition. The tournament runs in Samarkand from 10 to 17 September alongside the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad, marking the first time the two events have been staged together.
