Senior Assassin, a citywide game of water-pistol tag, has become a rite of passage for students across the country—and a headache for almost everyone else.

Teenagers sneak into bedrooms, get younger siblings to knock on doors while they hide in the bushes and enlist spies to give up a target’s location. Players can use pretty much anything that gets you wet, from a water balloon to a hose. But water pistols are the weapon of choice.

Variations of the game date back to the 1980s, but today it is played with an app called Splashin. Each week the app gives every five-person team a squad to target. Every hit is recorded on video and uploaded on the app, where they are widely shared and dissected.

Schools and police are warning parents about the game. Despite rules barring play on school property or school events, teachers and administrators say players are consumed.

Just a reminder that on Monday October 28, Financial Aid 101 will be hosted by our partners at Granite Edvance* in the GHS Information Center. This event will begin at 6:30 pm. Granite Edvance will be sharing tips to help families navigate the financial aid process. Emphasis is placed on how to apply for aid and the types of aid available. Funding options, scholarship searches and the importance of deadlines are also discussed.
