Glens Falls Brick Company 07/21/2017

Terra-cotta remnants in Glens Falls.

The Glens Falls Brick Company was established between 1840-1849 (depending on what record you read) by a man named Stephen Rogers. Over the years it was transferred to other individuals; eventually landing in the hands of Daniel P. DeLong, somewhere between 1886-88, who named it the Glens Falls Terra-Cotta and Brick Company. When he died in 1914, the company was handed down to his sons, who in 1921 incorporated it under the name Glens Falls Brick and Lumber Company.

Three separate sites shown here. The first is the original office for the Glens Falls Terra-Cotta and Brick Company which includes the fireplace. (Now the Center for Better Hearing.) The second site is that of the ruins of only one (of originally three) kilns. The last site is a garage outfitted with brick and terracotta.
