From our newsletter editor David Matteson: Today the UFP capped off a busy weekend with events every day since Friday. We did our annual Christmas Angels charity event, by purchasing gifts for a boy and girl, each who had interests in science and art. And food for a special needs dog, too!

Friday December 5th, 2025, the United Federation of Phoenix sent a landing party to Adults’ Night out: Intergalactic After Dark at the AZ Science Center. Dr. Dave, Dr. Kim, and Dr. Vic manned a UFP table and our own Lana Tilke gave a Star Trek talk: "The Strange New Worlds of Our Solar System and Beyond". It was fantastic. Spock would have said "fascinating". 37 people in attendance for her talk. Our Captain Dr. Vic got pics of our members in attendance as they came by the table.

Saturday October 4th the United Federation of Phoenix held our final pool party of the season at the home of Dr. Kim & Dr. Dave. Started with a repeat showing of the special videos made for the club’s 50th Anniversary last month as well as a new video of the party itself created by David Matteson from photos and videos of the party. A wee bit cold in pool so we sat around and talked star trek, science fiction, and even Ai.

Fifty years ago, in 1975, the founding members of the UFP held the first meeting of their new Star Trek fan club. A half-century later, that club is still going strong. In celebration of that incredible milestone, UFP members past and present held a party on Saturday in Laveen, Arizona. Congrats on 50 years! Live long and prosper. 🖖

Yesterday a year’s worth of planning came to fruition with the 50th Anniversary Celebration of our Phoenix-local Star Trek fan club, the United Federation of Phoenix. We had at least 49 attendees over 5 hours Saturday evening. We had the event catered by Chipotle, and had non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks including Warp Core Breach and Guinan Fizz, and a cake. We had members from every decade of the club, including founding members Dorene W-H and Toni M. It was so great to reconnect with past members. David M. took lots of photos, and made special tribute videos including photos of members through the years, and a Cameo videos montage with anniversary greetings from 17 Star Trek actors. More photos to come! So much fun! 😄🖖
