“What is the meaning behind Memorial Day? It wasn't until I went to war that I truly understood it's not a day off, and it's not meant to celebrate the living.

It is a sacred day established and reserved to honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country.

A folded flag, an empty chair, once filled, a name you trace with your fingertip and carry with you forever.

That's what today feels like: respect, gratitude, and a quiet so loud it shakes you as you take a moment of silence. You'll hear that silence, not the absence of sound, but the presence of every soul we've lost.

Hold it, feel it, let it remind you that someone is willing to fight and die for your right to be free. To the fallen, I salute you.

To the families still carrying that weight, I wish you peace. We remember today, Memorial Day, every day.”
