Ruth's Harvest Gettysburg is a free, shared program with the Gettysburg Ministerium, GASD & community partners to help local families eat healthier.

Ruth's Harvest Gettysburg is a free ministry modeled after a similar area program to help families eat more healthy meals and snacks. Each Friday, participating school children will receive a backpack of healthy food and snacks. Your Help is Needed for Bag Distribution!

On the second Sunday in September, volunteers will collect food from neighborhoods of the Gettysburg Area School District. Where we need your help is getting bags out on nearly 3000 doorsteps of GASD homes.

Please consider volunteering to put brown paper bags for the food drive in a local neighborhood. Click below to commit to a neighborhood (small, medium or large). Bags should ideally be distributed at your convenience between the week of Monday, August 26 and no later than Labor Day (Sept 2).

Dear Friends of Ruth’s Harvest,

We are at the beginning of our 4th annual food drive for Ruth’s Harvest Gettysburg. Last year the success of the food drive allowed us to not buy food until later in November. We collected over 3,000 pounds of food doing this.

That said, one of our key partners was unavailable this year to help us distribute bags. We are looking for individuals who may be willing to put brown paper bags (instructions are already attached) on front porches in various neighborhoods around the GASD. I have bags organized by neighborhoods with maps and instructions. Ideally we would like the bags out by this weekend as pickup is the following weekend.
