A huge congratulations to choir member Ashley Gage ‘28 her trip to Orvieto, Italy this summer to participate in the Orvieto Musica program!
Our GCC assistant manager spent three weeks preforming concerts, each with a different theme, including arias, Bel Canto, and musical theater. Ashley was able to work with different vocal coaches from around the world, and took Italian classes as well!
“It was the most incredible experience. I had so much fun not only getting to participate in my coachings, masterclasses, and concerts, but getting to experience Italian culture outside of tourist Italy. I was able to learn so much, and I made wonderful friends as well!”
Ashley also notes that a highlight of this program was getting to sing in the choir for the premere of Giuseppe Bruni’s “Missa in Honorem Sancti Francisci”. How cool!?!
She states how “the rehearsals were very fast pace and run entirely in Italian, so they definitely required me knowing my music inside and out. Getting to sing in a new environment with a new director alongside singers from both the program and a choir from Orvieto is an experience I will absolutely bring back to our choirs at Gettysburg!”
Ashley, you are amazing, and we are so proud to have you represent Gettysburg Choirs internationally with your amazing skill!
