SHOW-SAFE We adopt the key tenets of the U.S.Center for SafeSport.

SHOW-SAFE is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit that prevents and responds to abuse and misconduct through education and a safety net of direct services, so that every individual in dog sports is protected, connected, and empowered to thrive. Show-Safe is dedicated to educating dog show stakeholders on the perils of sexual misconduct within the dog exhibition community, promoting awareness, deterrence, and prevention while fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all participants and their beloved canine companions.

It’s the person who holds the door for you.
The friend who holds your dog while you grab something.
The junior who cheers for another junior.
The mentor who takes a few minutes to answer a question.
The stranger who tells you, “You and your dog looked great out there!”
The club member who notices someone sitting alone and invites them over.
Small moments can make a big difference.

💚 THANK YOU, CABRILLO KENNEL CLUB! 🐾
SHOW-SAFE would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cabrillo Kennel Club for their continued Gold Level Club Membership.
CKC has been with us since the beginning, even hosting what was just our second junior education in Spring of 2025. Their generosity helps us continue providing education, resources, junior programming, and safety support to members of the dog-show community.

In their own words, “We support SHOW-SAFE as we always want the dog community to feel safe and connected to our club. Our members are always willing to help the community at our show or others we attend. We encourage giving back to the sport to ensure we have our passion for dogs well into the future.”

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage, sacrifice, resilience, and service of the first responders and countless others who continue to step forward to help others as a result of this unimaginable tragedy.
We join survivor Cait Leavey as we recommit to the legacy of service that 9/11 created. As we reflect on this day, we are reminded of the unity we felt as a nation as we came together with compassion and shared purpose.. These same values continue to guide us in building safe, respectful, and supportive environments for everyone in dog sports and beyond.

Every Day, You Have the Power to Save a Life
Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, and a little kindness can make a big difference.
At SHOW-SAFE, we believe connection is protection. A safe community extends beyond the show ring. It is built through respect, compassion, and a willingness to look out for one another, including ourselves.
Here are some ways you can show up:
🐾 Ask a friend how they are doing—then really listen without judgement
🐾 Recognize & encourage the skills of a junior exhibitor
🐾 Offer a genuine smile and eye contact in every interaction
🐾 Give others the benefit of the doubt
🐾 Do one small kindness for someone who seems to be struggling
🐾 Practice self-compassion
🐾 Seek out beauty. Find what you are grateful for. And then share it with others.
🐾 Cuddle a dog.

Today, we recognize and appreciate the hard work, dedication, and passion of the people who make our dog show community possible.

Whether you are an exhibitor, judge, handler, breeder, club member, superintendent, ring steward, canine health researcher, groomer, janitorial staff, vet staff, photographer, media, AKC/UKC staff, publisher or one of the countless volunteers and other individuals laboring diligently behind the scenes—your commitment promotes every aspect of the joy of dogs and dog sports.

We are especially grateful for those of you who work every day within this community to foster safe, respectful, and welcoming environments for all participants.
