What does a watermelon, a horse, and our expectations all have in common?

More than you might think.

Yesterday, I bought a seedless watermelon. I cut it open expecting exactly what was advertisedā€”no seeds. Instead, there they were.

At first, I was annoyed.

Then I started to think how life and horses teach the same lesson.

We often approach life expecting things to be smooth and easy. We want quick results, instant confidence, and success without setbacks. We expect the horse to listen perfectly, the skill to come naturally, and the journey to be free of challenges.

But life and horses donā€™t work that way.

Every horse comes with a few ā€œseeds.ā€

Sometimes itā€™s fear we have to overcome. Sometimes itā€™s patience we have to develop. Sometimes itā€™s a lesson that takes far longer to learn than weā€™d like.

Those seeds can feel like obstacles, but theyā€™re actually opportunities.

The horse that challenges us often teaches us the most. The lesson that doesnā€™t go as planned is often the one we remember forever.

Just like a watermelon seed contains the potential for another harvest, lifeā€™s challenges contain the potential for growth, confidence, resilience, and character.

Because a seedless life might be easier, but it rarely produces the strength needed for the next harvest.

Little boots. Big smiles. Even bigger memories.

Our Buckaroos spent the day learning, laughing, and getting a taste of rodeo life the best way possibleā€”hands-on and full of adventure.

From stick horse races and roping games to horse interactions, crafts, and making new friends, these young cowgirls showed up ready to learn and have fun.

We loved watching each Buckaroo grow a little taller, smile a little bigger, and leave a little more confident than when they arrived.

Our mock rodeo gave campers the chance to put their skills to the test in a fun and supportive competition environment. From the horse saver to quick dismounts and goat tying, every run required focus, determination, and grit.

Every run built confidence, sharpened skills, and showed these young cowgirls what it means to cowgirl up. šŸ¤ šŸ“šŸ

These girls brought the grit, smiles, and cowgirl energy. šŸ¤ 

Goat tying was a camp favorite ā€” and every camper stepped in, tried hard, learned something new, and finished strong.

The best part wasnā€™t just the skill. It was watching them cheer each other on, build confidence, and walk away proud of what they accomplished.

At Rodeo Summer Camp, our focus was simple:

Learn. Build. Finish.

Each day had a purpose:
Trust. Patience. Confidence.

The camp was built for hands-on learning, having fun, and making memories theyā€™ll carry with them.

Proud of every one of these campers.

It's been a busy and rewarding week with our Rodeo Fundamentals and Buckaroo Camps!

We've captured hundreds of photos and are working our way through them all. There are so many great memories, smiles, and special moments to share that it's taking us a little time to sort through everything.

In the meantime, here are a few sneak peeks from an incredible week at the ranch.

Thank you to all of our campers and families for making our first summer camp season such a success. We can't wait to share more highlights over the coming days!
