Genoa-Kingston Community Unit School District 424, located about 64 miles west of Chicago in the Northeast corner of DeKalb County, serves the communities of Genoa and Kingston Illinois. The community is predominantly composed of middle class business and professional people who commute to suburban communities like Rockford, Elgin, and Schaumburg. Because of the proximity to Northern Illinois Univ

ersity, Genoa is home to numerous university professors and staff. Genoa-Kingston CUSD 424 is made up of four schools, serving over 1,400 students in grades K-12. 2003-2004 was the first year for the new Genoa-Kingston High School, and since then all buildings have been renovated and updated with state-of-the-art technology. For the past six years Genoa-Kingston CUSD 424 has received financial recognition for district finances by the Illinois State Board of Education, the highest ranking the board has. In 2005 Genoa-Kingston was ranked among the top 45 fastest growing districts in Illinois.

Annual NHS Community Scarecrow Competition - Come help the GKHS National Honors Society Decorate Downtown! Cost $20 Per Scarecrow A wooden skeleton frame will be provided. All profits from this event will be used to support community service projects, with a portion of the proceeds donated to a local nonprofit organization. Deadline to register: September 7th

This yearly event for students is a way for you to tour the school, find your locker and hear from upperclassmen. You will leave the event prepared for your first day of school with your class schedule, Chromebook and a welcome goodie bag. No need to bring anything other than yourself.
