To assist in the growth of the organization, so that more people may come to experience Isshinryu Karate and Kobu-do in its purest form.

To continue promoting and teaching Isshinryu Karate and Kobu-do under the guidance of Master Uezu. The Okinawa Isshinryu Karate Kobudo Association was established in 1990 by Master Angi Uezu. As of February 1st, 2007 Master Uezu has appointed Master Christopher Chase as his successor and President of the O.I.K.K.A. Master Uezu continues to play an active role in the organization and has taken the position of Chairman Emeritus and Special Advisor. OIKKA hereby declares that its copyright is attached to all of its personal details contained in my personal and business profiles, including, but not limited to: all postings, status updates, comments, illustrations, paintings, drawings, art, photographs, music, videos, etc. as per the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, (a/k/a the Berne Convention). Congratulations to everyone who represented the Okinawa Isshinryu Karate Kobudo Association (OIKKA) at the 2026 Isshinryu Hall of Fame in Gatlinburg, Tennessee! What an incredible weekend showcasing excellence, sportsmanship, and the true spirit of Isshinryu.

A huge congratulations to Sensei Phil Ebersole on being named Male Karateka of the Year, Renshi Nick Arndt for receiving the prestigious Harold Long Spirit of Isshinryu Award and Vance Otto for winning Male Karateka of the Year for 12 & under. All three honors are a testament to years of dedication, leadership, and commitment to Isshinryu.

Congratulations as well to our Grand Champions! Sensei Sophia Costa captured both the Women’s Grand Champion titles in Kata and Kumite, while Renshi Nick Arndt earned both the Men’s Grand Champion titles in Kata and Kobudo. An outstanding accomplishment by two exceptional martial artists!

To every OIKKA member who stepped onto the floor, thank you for representing our association with pride, humility, and class. Every competitor played a part in showcasing the strength, tradition, and spirit of OIKKA throughout the weekend.

A very special thank you to Kyoshi Howard Steele for doing an outstanding job as Master of Ceremonies for both the awards banquet and the tournament. Your professionalism, energy, and passion helped make the entire event a memorable experience for everyone.

Congratulations once again to all the competitors, officials, volunteers, families, and supporters who made the 2026 Isshinryu Hall of Fame such a tremendous success. Here’s to honoring our tradition, celebrating one another, and continuing to grow the legacy of Isshinryu together.

We are saddened by the news of the passing of Grand Master Nick Adler. Here is a message from Grand Master Chris Chase

“Grand Master Nick Adler leaves a legacy of excellence. Already a prominent sensei, he later started studying under Grand Master Angi Uezu and that relationship became a strong friendship as well. He shared his vast knowledge of Isshinryu Karate and Kobudo with thousands, and was a great supporter and advisor of OIKKA.
On a personal note, my deep sorrow his loss brings is consoled by the many memories of our 40 year friendship and his thoughtful support.”
