“Back to you in the studio!”

Mrs. Lambert’s third graders have been learning all about weather patterns, forecasting, and meteorology and recently brought those lessons to life with their very own weather reports. They confidently delivered forecasts like seasoned TV meteorologists!

Inspired by Al Conklin, the class even caught Al’s attention and recognition for their amazing work!

Beyond learning about weather, projects like this help students strengthen communication and presentation skills, build confidence speaking in front of others, and creatively share what they’re learning.

Safe to say Gaston Day may have a few future broadcasters and meteorologists in the making.

One last walk through the halls.

As the Class of 2026 made their Senior Walk around campus, younger Spartans cheered them on with “6-7!” chant, leaving plenty of seniors laughing along the way.

Somewhere between the inside jokes, high-fives, and smiles, you could feel it: a group of students beginning to leave childhood behind and step toward what’s next.

The countdown to Commencement is officially on.

As we continue rolling out Gaston Day School’s strategic plan, Lead the Way, we’re revisiting stories that capture the heart of our community, including this video featuring Upper School teacher Greg Lekavich.

Recently recognized as one of the region’s top educators through the ASC Cato Lifetime Achievement in Teaching Award, Mr. Lekavich represents the kind of transformational teaching our strategic plan is built around: inspiring curiosity, meaningful connections, creativity, and student growth that extends far beyond the classroom.

At GDS, our plan isn’t just about the future, it’s about investing in the people already making an extraordinary impact every single day.

Congratulations again, Mr. Lekavich, and thank you for helping lead the way.

What happens when kindergarten imagination meets 4th-grade creativity? Monsters come to life.

As part of a special mentorship tradition at Gaston Day School, our kindergarten and 4th-grade buddies spent the year building connections through games, crafts, and collaborative activities. This year’s art partnership may have been the most magical yet.

Kindergarten students designed and colored their very own original “monster” creations, and then their 4th-grade buddies stepped into the role of artists and makers, carefully transforming the 2D drawings into hand-sculpted 3D clay creatures.

The best part? The surprise reveal. Watching our kindergarteners see their monsters “come to life”!

At GDS, learning is about more than academics, it’s about creativity, collaboration, mentorship, and community.

Music filled the PKW lobby at Gaston Day as our Fifth and Sixth Grade Choir presented A Springtime Serenade.

Featuring nearly 25 student singers, the concert was a beautiful reminder that the arts are an essential part of how students learn, grow, and connect.

From learning harmonies and rhythms to performing together as one ensemble, our young Spartans demonstrated the power of the arts in action.

We are proud of these students for sharing their talents! Bravo on a wonderful evening of music!
