As a Christian mother, I recognize the importance of instilling God’s Word into children at an early age. With this in mind, I began searching for a family devotional that was interactive, educational, fun, and, perhaps most importantly, age-appropriate for my two preschool-aged daughters. Unable to find one that met all the aforementioned criteria, I decided to write my own. I simplified Bible st
ories to make them suitable for children as young as two years old and incorporated simple rhymes and activities to summarize the stories in an entertaining way. As I began using Bible Time with my daughters, I became amazed at how much they retained from the stories and activities. When I asked them questions from the stories we had covered, they actually knew the answers! Though I am impressed with how much they comprehend as I read the stories to them and teach them the rhymes, my greatest joy is in the increased interest in God’s Word each of my daughters now displays. Every morning my younger daughter asks, "Mom can we read the Bible story now?”
Creating this was a long and, at times, challenging process for me. I began working on it when my firstborn was six months old and finished when she was almost four years old. Most days I woke up at five o’clock in the morning to do research and to write. When I discovered I had written material that was too advanced for them, I discarded it and began the rewriting process. Yet it is done, and how rewarding it is to see them learn from a devotional I created. Acknowledgements
