As we continue to reflect on Juneteenth and today is July 4th, we are reminded that not everyone was free on either of those dates. In Northampton County NC the proclamation did not arrive until July 10, 1865, according to historic records discovered by Arthur Grant Jr. as he researched his family history.

The first ever celebration of that event, now known as Liberation Day, will be celebrated in Rich Square NC on July 13th. You are invited to celebrate with us!
