Garrison Art Center Exhibitions, Art Classes and Community Events Garrison Art Center (GAC) is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit arts and education organization.

Founded on the banks of the Hudson River in 1964, Garrison Art Center seeks to connect and enrich lives by cultivating an open environment for the creation and appreciation of art.

The Galleries at Garrison Art Center are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm. We are located across the street from the Garrison Metro North stop.

Join us for the opening reception of 'INSCAPE/OUTSCAPE: Works on Paper,' featuring selected works generously lent by The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation, next Saturday, October 17, from 5 - 7 PM.

'INSCAPE/OUTSCAPE: Works on Paper' displays selected works generously lent by The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation. Grounded in verticality, contrast, and structural detail, this nearly monochromatic collection explores architectural forms and the interplay of shadow and light. By examining the boundaries between interior and exterior, presence and absence, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on how both literal and metaphorical environments shape our perception and way of seeing the world.

Join us for the opening reception of 'smallWORKS,' a juried biennial exhibition, next Saturday, October 17, from 5 - 7 PM.

'smallWORKS' returns to the galleries at Garrison Art Center this fall, inviting artists to consider artwork as a passageway — a frame through which we glimpse something beyond. Presented alongside 'INSCAPE / OUTSCAPE' in the Balter Gallery, a curated exhibition drawn from The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation, this year's 'smallWORKS' takes inspiration from that show's meditation on how environments shape our ways of seeing and being in the world.

Artworks reference artwork as a kind of window, open to both representational and abstract interpretations. Whether peering inward or outward, intimate or expansive, works are invited to explore how the plane of an artwork can become a threshold.​

About the juror
Christina Kee is an artist and writer who has worked at The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation since 2011, supporting public programming and exhibitions featuring artists including George Grosz, James Castle, Stanley Lewis, and Graham Nickson. A regular speaker on the Artcritical Review Panel, she has written extensively on modern and contemporary art. Originally from Toronto, Kee is a Studio School alumna (MFA 2006) and past assistant to the Dean.
