The agents who pretend to know everything are the ones you should worry about.
The best ones? They ask questions. They dig. They call in favors to get you the right answer.
Real estate is too big of a decision to trust someone who won't admit when they need to do more homework.
That's what this page is all about, helping you know what to look for, what to ask, and what to expect from someone who's truly in your corner.
Follow along if you want to go into your next real estate experience actually prepared. 🏡

Before you even start looking for an agent, pause for a second.

How do you actually like to communicate?

Do you love quick texts throughout the day?
Do you prefer one clear phone call to talk things through?
Are you someone who likes detailed emails you can sit with and reread?

This might seem small, but it makes a huge difference.

So much frustration between clients and agents does not come from bad intentions. It comes from mismatched communication styles.

If you need updates and reassurance, but your agent is quiet unless something big happens, that can feel stressful.
If you prefer simple and efficient, but your agent calls constantly, that can feel overwhelming.

Neither is wrong. They just need to match.

When you get clear on what you need first, it becomes so much easier to find the right fit.

That is why in my guide, we start here. Understanding you.

If you are thinking about buying or selling and want to walk through this intentionally, the link is in my bio.

Let me share something I see all the time.

When you interview a real estate agent, it should feel like a conversation. Not a performance.

You should feel listened to. Not managed. Not rushed. Not sold.

The right agent will ask thoughtful questions about your goals, your concerns, your timeline. They will slow things down and make sure you get your questions answered. They will care more about clarity than impressing you.

If you walk away feeling pressured or dazzled instead of understood, pay attention to that.

You are not hiring a personality. You are choosing representation for one of the biggest financial decisions of your life.

It should feel steady. It should feel safe. It should feel like someone is genuinely on your side.

That is why interviewing matters.

And if you are not sure what to ask or what to listen for, I created a guide that walks you through it. The link is in my bio.

Okay friend, this is not meant to be scary.

It is just something most people genuinely do not realize.

Getting licensed in real estate does not require years of school. It is a short course and a test. That is it.

After that, someone is legally allowed to represent you in one of the biggest financial transactions of your life. Whether you are buying or selling.

Some agents spend years continuing to learn contracts, negotiation, market strategy, and how to truly protect their clients.

Some do not.

That is why interviewing your agent matters.

Not to make it awkward.
Not to grill anyone.
But to make sure you feel confident, informed, and supported.

Whether you are purchasing your first home or selling one you have loved for years, or anything in between, you deserve someone who takes that responsibility seriously.

That is exactly why I created my guide. It walks you through what to ask and what to listen for before you choose representation.

If you are thinking about buying or selling, the link to the guide is in my bio.

This isn’t about hiring the agent who closes the most homes.

It’s about hiring the one who will truly guide you through yours.

Buying a home is exciting and vulnerable at the same time. There is so much happening behind the scenes that most buyers and sellers never see.

Contracts.
Negotiation.
Inspections.
Unexpected hiccups.
Strategy when things do not go as planned.

Before you hire someone, do not just look at flashy numbers or big personalities.

Ask yourself,

Will they take the time to explain things clearly?
Do they really understand the contract language?
Are they paying attention to what is happening in the market right now?
Will they advocate for you if things get complicated?

You do not need the busiest agent.

You need the right fit. Someone steady. Someone thoughtful. Someone who treats your purchase like it truly matters.

That is exactly why I created my guide (link in bio). To help buyers (and sellers) know what actually matters before they choose representation.

I think one of the most underrated things about a great agent is honesty. Not the "tell you what you want to hear" kind. The real kind. The kind where they sit you down and say "hey, I know this isn't what you were hoping for, but here's what the data is telling us."
That's not them being difficult. That's them doing their job. That's them protecting you.
When you find an agent who cares more about getting it right than making you happy in the moment, hold on to them. That's the one you want in your corner.

Can I be honest with you? Most people spend weeks researching homes but never spend five minutes thinking about the qualities that will make up a great real estate agent. I get it, it's exciting to scroll Zillow and picture yourself in that dream kitchen. But trust me, the agent you choose matters way more than the house you find first.

Start there. I promise it changes everything.

I actually wrote a guide to help with this. 15 years of everything I wish every buyer and seller knew before hiring an agent. If you want it, it's yours. Just check out the link on my page.
