📚 September 8 is International Literacy Day!

Literacy is more than learning to read and write. It helps children communicate, understand the world around them, build confidence and imagine new possibilities for their future.

You can help nurture a love of reading through simple everyday moments:

📖 Let your child choose the book
🗣️ Ask questions about the story
🎭 Use silly voices for different characters
🔍 Point out words on signs, menus and packages
❤️ Read together—even if it’s only for a few minutes

At Red Dog Children’s Museum, we believe stories and play belong together. Both invite children to explore new worlds, develop important skills and discover just how far their imaginations can take them.

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day!

Did you know has been a federal holiday since 1894? It was created to recognize the contributions American workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country.

For children, it’s also a great opportunity to learn about the many people whose work keeps our communities moving—from farmers, teachers and healthcare workers to builders, first responders, small-business owners and countless others.

Try asking your child:

👷 What job would you like to try for a day?
🧑‍🌾 What workers help provide the food we eat?
👩‍🏫 Who works each day to make our community a better place?
🎨 Can you draw a picture or make a thank-you card for one of them?

Today, Red Dog Children’s Museum celebrates the work people do—and the curious young minds dreaming about what they might become someday. 🦬❤️
