šŸ“š September 8 is International Literacy Day!

Literacy is more than learning to read and write. It helps children communicate, understand the world around them, build confidence and imagine new possibilities for their future.

You can help nurture a love of reading through simple everyday moments:

šŸ“– Let your child choose the book
šŸ—£ļø Ask questions about the story
šŸŽ Use silly voices for different characters
šŸ” Point out words on signs, menus and packages
ā¤ļø Read together—even if it’s only for a few minutes

At Red Dog Children’s Museum, we believe stories and play belong together. Both invite children to explore new worlds, develop important skills and discover just how far their imaginations can take them.

What book did you love most as a child? Share it in the comments and help another family find its next great story!

šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Happy Labor Day!

Did you know has been a federal holiday since 1894? It was created to recognize the contributions American workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country.

For children, it’s also a great opportunity to learn about the many people whose work keeps our communities moving—from farmers, teachers and healthcare workers to builders, first responders, small-business owners and countless others.

Try asking your child:

šŸ‘· What job would you like to try for a day?
šŸ§‘ā€šŸŒ¾ What workers help provide the food we eat?
šŸ‘©ā€šŸ« Who works each day to make our community a better place?
šŸŽØ Can you draw a picture or make a thank-you card for one of them?

Today, Red Dog Children’s Museum celebrates the work people do—and the curious young minds dreaming about what they might become someday. šŸ¦¬ā¤ļø

September 5 is International Day of Charity—a reminder that generosity, in any form, can make a lasting difference.

Red Dog Children’s Museum is a local nonprofit working to create more opportunities for children across Southwest Kansas to learn, imagine and grow through hands-on play.

Your donations help make it possible to:

🦬 Develop interactive exhibits
šŸŽØ Provide educational programs and activities
🚐 Bring mobile museum experiences to communities across our region
šŸ—ļø Continue renovating our future museum space
ā¤ļø Keep meaningful play accessible to more children and families

You can support Red Dog by donating online at givebutter.com/rdcm.

Farmers can also give without writing a check! Simply call Garden City Co-op and ask to donate bushels of grain to Red Dog Children’s Museum. More on that here: https://rdcm.org/blog/f/new-opportunity-of-giving-for-farmers

What if supporting Red Dog Children’s Museum didn’t require writing a check? As a new member of the Garden City Co-op, farmers can now donate bushels of grain directly through GCC to Red Dog Children's Museum—helping create hands-on learning opportunities for local children while potentially gaining tax advantages.
