🚨 Ctrl+Create is in the final stretch of our Downtown Galveston Youth Mural Project and working to close our final funding gap by Friday.

This youth-led project has brought Galveston students together with artist Ibrahim Namaste Nascimento and facilitator Dr. Robin Douglas Ramirez to create a public mural that reflects student voices, creativity, and community pride.

We’re so close to the finish line—any support helps bring this project to life in downtown Galveston.

🎶✨ Celebrating Black Music Month with a spotlight on the incredible Izola Ethel Fedford Collins! 🌟 Born in Galveston, Texas, Mrs. Collins was not only a talented musician and educator but also a dedicated historian and civic leader.

From organizing school bands to serving as an award-winning choir instructor, her contributions to music education shaped the lives of many. She made history as one of the first African Americans elected at-large to the Galveston ISD Board of Trustees, advocating for the preservation of African American history and culture in our community.

Mrs. Collins’s passion for music went beyond the classroom; she was a respected voice in Galveston's classical music scene, supporting local organizations like the Galveston Symphony Orchestra and enriching the city’s artistic identity. 🎼❤️

Join us in honoring her legacy and commitment to uplifting Black voices in music and history!
