Last week’s mission: six IFR approaches, a hold, and a great reminder of why our chief instructor loves flying.

As a safety pilot, our chief instructor had the best seat in the house while they visited Freeway, Bay Bridge, Easton, and a few other airports across Maryland. It was one of those hot summer days where the haze drifting down from the Canadian wildfires painted the sky in a unique way. They flew all the way into the evening, and the sunset didn’t disappoint.

Not every flight is about getting somewhere; sometimes it’s about sharpening your skills and enjoying the journey.

Another incredible week of Summer Aviation Camp is complete!

Our campers stepped into the world of aviation through interactive lessons, Redbird simulator sessions, hands-on aircraft activities, and their very own introduction flight with a certified flight instructor. Along the way, they built confidence, made new friends, and discovered what it's like to train as a pilot.

For this month, we are featuring one of our Flight Instructors, Chase!

Here's what he has to say about his journey:

"I started my journey in aviation right here at Pilot in Training Flight Academy, where Slava gave me the opportunity to work as a shop assistant. After working in the shop for a summer, I started flying with Pilot in Training and earned my PPL before heading to Auburn University to study Professional Flight and Finance.

I’m back in town for the summer helping out on the operations side of the flight school, as well as serving as one of the lead instructors for the upcoming summer camp sessions. I’m surrounded by an amazing group of people here that constantly remind me why I love flying.

When I'm not working at the airport or flying with some friends, you can usually find me at the pool either training or coaching. Outside of the pool, I spend a lot of time playing tourist in my hometown of Washington, DC. Being home from school has allowed me to take some time to enjoy my certificates, allowing me to fly with family, friends, and colleagues, which has been a bunch of fun!"

✈️ We're thankful to have Chase on our team this summer. Having started his aviation journey here at Pilot in Training, it's rewarding to see him return to support our students, lead our summer camp, and share his passion for flying with the next generation of pilots.
