We are Saying Goodbye

With heavy hearts, we announce that the UF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program will be sunsetting on September 30, 2025, due to the elimination of federal funding for SNAP-Ed programs.

For almost 30 years, we’ve had the privilege to work side by side with families and community partners across Florida to foster lifelong healthy habits through nutrition education and improved access to nutritious foods.

It has been an honor and a joy to be part of this journey with you. The strength, care, and commitment we’ve seen in our communities has inspired our team deeply. We’re incredibly grateful to all who made this work possible.

As we prepare for this transition, our team is actively working with partners to review current projects and support a smooth wrap-up. While this change is difficult, our dedication to the health and well-being of Florida families remains strong.

We will continue to share any updates here and on our website at familynutritionprogram.org. For additional local programming and resources, please visit your local UF/IFAS Extension office at: https://sfyl.ifas.ufl.edu/find-your-local-office/

Thank you for your partnership!

Stay safe while gardening in the summer heat. Check your weather app or other sources for extreme heat advisories and avoid working in the garden during this time. When conditions are safe, you should garden in the early morning or evening, wear a hat, take breaks and drink plenty of water. Know the signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

For more information on heat safety, read this UF/IFAS Gardening Solutions article https://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/care/weather/heat-safety/ .

Yesterday was my keynote address in Orlando for the University of Florida Institute for Food and Agricultural Sciences Extention.

It was during the annual training for the amazing group of people who educate S.N.A.P. recipients all throughout the state of Florida, teaching them about the many areas of good nutrition.

What an incredible experience, ya'll. I am so lucky to have been able to spend time with these heroes. They give so much of themselves to help their clients understand that cooking healthy food is within their reach. They work long hours, late nights and drive long distances to be able to reach as many people as possible.

I was nervous giving my speech to them, telling my story of how I began cooking and the role that food plays in our family.

Believe it or not, giving that speech ended up being so much fun. I laughed a lot. The audience laughed a lot. What a great experience.

Thank you so much to Ms. Lynnette and Ms. Jeannie for inviting me to be your keynote speaker and for making the event so much fun!

Thank you, Remy Willow Powell! Your talk was awesome! Hearing your story—kid-style—made us smile and reminded us how cool cooking and healthy eating can be for kids. Thanks for sharing your journey with our FNP family during Annual Training.
