The Big Event is a nationwide service movement that was brought to UF for the first time in April of 2017. The Big Event is essentially a new, citywide service day planned and run by University of Florida students. The day is kicked off with an opening ceremony and followed by UF students performing three to four hour service projects across Gainesville - all “For The Gator Good!"

Happy ! Meet Lauren Bonet! Lauren is a first-year Public Relations major from Miami, FL. She currently serves as an Assistant Director for the External team.

This week’s BIG Staff Shoutout is Cason Schneider! Cason is from Jacksonville, Florida, and plans to graduate in 2023 with a degree in Business Management. He is currently a Director for our Finance team.
“I came to UF looking for an organization that would impact the local community of Gainesville. I had never heard of The Big Event, however, a friend told me I should check it out. What I found is an organization that was doing BIG things in order to positively influence the lives of many. We have the opportunity to impact real people in real day-to-day life which is an amazing privilege when you consider what that means to those you help.”

Happy Big Week Edition! Meet our Chairman, Zachary Perez! Zach is from Wellington, FL, and plans to graduate in 2022 with a degree in Political Campaigning. One of Zach’s favorite memories from TBE was cleaning up a mental health facility and seeing first-hand the tangible impact he could make in the Gainesville community.
“The friendships I have made within TBE will last me a lifetime. I am blessed to have worked with some of the best UF has to offer throughout my time in this organization. I just want to say thank you to Ronnie, Joe, Reis, Marcello, and everyone else who has helped me get to this position within TBE.”
