A quilt with a sweet family story that said Betty Small (BS) made the quilt for the wedding of Mary Small (MS) and Johannes John (JJ) in 1857. That would seem to explain the quilt, wouldn't it? But that didn't happen! No one in the Small family married in 1857. Mary did not marry a "JJ" at all. This is why research is important! What can I unravel about the history of this quilt?
