Gainesville Regional Utilities needs your biomass!
We are currently in the middle of the largest US freeze in history. Last Wednesday, CNN reported that over 2,000 record low temperatures were shattered.
This has created a national short-term natural gas supply shortage.
On Wednesday, February 17, Georgia-Pacific’s Palatka pulp mill shut down because it could not get any natural gas. Also effected was Gainesville Regional Utilities natural gas generator.
Thankfully GRU could shift its power needs to their Biomass Plant. As of today, GRU’s biomass plant is operating at 100% of its maximum power output and subsequently needs all the fuel wood it can find. They are willing to pay, including buying roundwood stumpage.
If you are considering selling your timber and you want to receive a premium for your pulpwood as well as your fuelwood, now is the time to call. This spot price will not last long. You must be ready for us to move immediately. First come – first served!
