SPICMACAY UF

Thanks to everyone who came to our Fall 2018 concert! Over 150 people attended the concert and it was highly appreciated by everyone.

We would like to thank the artists Vidushi Gayatri Venkataraghavan (Carnatic Vocal), Vidwan Mysore Srikanth (Violin) and Vidwan B Sivaraman (Mridangam) for enthralling us with wonderful music!

Shout out to the SPICMACAY team and the hosts for all the efforts to make such a big event happen!

Hi All,

A very warm welcome back to campus for the fall semester. We hope your semester is off to a great start!

Our first jam session for this semester has been organized on this Friday, 9/7/2018 at Room 2335, Reitz Union from 6:30pm to 9pm.
Please feel free to drop by any time during the jam session.

We would like to reiterate that everyone who is interested in music is welcome to attend! You don't have to be a musician to attend these jam sessions. You are welcome to come, sit and enjoy the purest form of music!

The first 30 mins of the session will be for children (adults can participate as well!) which shall consist of Indian classical musicianship development tips, such as:
1. Simple raga/tala/swara recognition.
2. Reproducing music by ear.
3. Simple improvisation exercises.
4. Slo-o-o-w gamaka (bent note/microtone) exercises.

When: September 7th, 2018, Friday
Where: Room 2335, Level 2, J. Wayne Reitz Union
Time: 6:30pm

As we usher in the festivities of Navarathri with artistic Golu, Rangoli, Singing, Dancing and Seasonal Foods,
we at Swaralaya like to join the festivities with a concert. We are excited to start Navarathri with music at a
convenient afternoon time. This makes for the lingering joys of Devi and Navarathri Krithis.

We are fortunate to have top artistes perform at Swaralaya. Please share this information with your circle of
friends and attend together. This year has been memorable with many marvelous musical evenings.
