Join us in celebrating our incredible Teacher of the Year! We are so proud to have such an amazing educator as part of our school family—congratulations on this well-deserved honor Mrs. Beckham! 🍎

I became a teacher because I love working with kids, especially when it comes to teaching them how to read. I have been at Williams for five years, and this year marks my sixth. I love working at a school with such a rich history, as Williams Elementary is the oldest school in the county. My favorite part of the school day is the reading block because I truly enjoy teaching reading. I build relationships with my students by using time in the morning to ask them about what happened over the weekend, and they often ask me about mine as well, especially after a holiday or day off. I also connect learning to their prior experiences whenever possible. The third grade team is the best—I wouldn’t have made it this far without them, as they keep me going even when I start to feel a little burned out.

Before Social Worker Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to shine a well-deserved spotlight on our AMAZING school social worker!

Hi! My name is Rebekah McDonald — Mrs. McDonald around campus — and I’m the school social worker assigned to Williams. I’m an LCSW and a proud FSU graduate 😁, and this is my tenth year serving in the district. I always knew I wanted to work in education, but I didn’t know where I fit until I found school social work. Once it clicked, it stuck — and it’s been my favorite ever since. Plus, kiddos are pretty epic people.

I love getting to know students as the unique humans they are, building real relationships, and being their sounding board, cheerleader, and advocate when life feels big (or sometimes a little too big). I believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and capable, and I know that one size does not fit all — every student brings their own story, strengths, and needs.

Working in a school, especially Williams, is genuinely a little magical in its own way. Every day brings a new story, a new challenge, and a new moment where a student surprises themselves. Williams is a special place because of the way people show up for one another. I’m proud to be part of a team that trusts my role and lets me do the work I was trained to do so kids get the support they deserve, especially on the days that aren’t their best.

And to the families — thank you for trusting me with your kiddos. It’s an honor to walk alongside them, celebrate their wins, and support them through the hard moments. It isn’t always easy, but it’s always fulfilling, and I’m grateful to be a Williams Wildcat. 🐾
