🀄 WEEK 3: A Little Friendly Competition Across the League! 🏆

The Carolina Triangle Mahjong League is heating up!

This week's standout? Melissa from our South Chapter made a guest appearance at Central and racked up an impressive 95 points! 🔥👏

We love seeing players visit other chapters, meet new opponents, and bring a little friendly competition to the tables!

Three weeks in, we're building friendships, sharpening our skills, and having plenty of fun along the way.

🥞 Central: Wednesdays at Simply Crepes, Lafayette Village
🍻 South: Thursdays at Hickory Tavern, Holly Springs

🎄🚂 FIRST CLASS MAHJ IS BACK — HOLIDAY EDITION! 🀄✨ Eastern/Central North Carolina

All aboard for a little holiday magic!

After our summer First Class Mahj adventure, we're heading back to the rails—this time aboard the Holiday Train for an evening of Mahjong, twinkling lights, hors d'oeuvres, and good company.

📅 Sunday, December 13
🚂 Two seatings: 5 PM & 7 PM

Choose the experience that's right for you:

🀄 First Class Mahj — Choose the 5 PM or 7 PM seating for two hours aboard the Holiday Train, including Mahjong, hors d'oeuvres, and a ride through town decked out for the holidays.

✨ Extra Class — Why choose? Book both the 5 PM + 7 PM seatings and make a full evening of it. More time aboard. More Mahjong. More holiday fun.

🛋️ Non-Player Seats — Bringing someone who doesn't play? They can relax in one of the comfortable overstuffed chairs and enjoy the ride, hors d'oeuvres, holiday lights, and atmosphere while you play.

This isn't a Mahjong class—it's a Mahj & Mingle experience, so players should already know the basics of American Mahjong and be comfortable playing with minimal assistance.

🎟️ Tickets are NOW OPEN! Visit Mahj with McMillan website for more information.

Seats are limited aboard the train, so grab your preferred departure while it's available.

Vintage rail travel. Holiday lights. Mahjong with friends.
Now that's a Christmas outing. 🎄🚂🀄

🀄 Calling Raleigh-area businesses & community partners!

The City of Raleigh American Mahjong Tournament is coming to the Five Points Center for Active Adults on Saturday, October 24, and we're looking for a few generous local businesses to help make tournament day extra special.

This event brings together American Mahjong players at two skill levels for a day of friendly competition, connection, and community—and we'd love to showcase businesses that want to be part of it.

We're currently seeking support through event sponsorships and in-kind donations, including:
• Prizes or gift cards for tournament winners
• Products or services for player giveaways
• Food or refreshments
• Other creative contributions that would add to the player experience

Sponsors will receive recognition associated with the event, and we'll be happy to work with you on a contribution that makes sense for your business.

🀄 Have you been curious about tournament Mahjong but aren't sure you're “tournament ready”?
This one might be exactly the place to start.
The City of Raleigh American Mahjong Tournament on October 24 has two separate skill divisions, so you can choose the experience that's right for you.
🌿 Beginner–Intermediate — 90-minute rounds and a supportive, lower-pressure tournament experience. If you know how to play American Mahjong and are comfortable using the current NMJL card, you belong at the table.
🏆 Intermediate–Advanced — Ready for more of a challenge? This division steps up the pace with 75-minute rounds for confident players who play regularly, strategize across multiple hands, and enjoy competitive play.
And whichever division you choose, this is still supposed to be FUN. You'll rotate tables, meet other players, enjoy refreshments, and compete for prizes and, of course, bragging rights. 🏆

📅 Saturday, October 24
📍 Five Points Center for Active Adults, Raleigh
💲 Just $20

Don't let the word “tournament” scare you away. Come experience organized tournament play at the level that's right for you.
