💧🔬 CHEMISTRY IN ACTION: When Water Molecules Team Up!🪡

Ever wonder how a tiny needle can float on water? It’s not magic—it’s chemistry!🧪

Water molecules are tiny, but they have a BIG attraction to one another. They pull on each other and stick together, especially at the surface of the water.

Think of the water molecules like a bunch of kids holding hands. 🤝💧

When we carefully place a needle on the surface, those water molecules are holding on so tightly that they create a stretchy “skin” called SURFACE TENSION.

🪡 Needle + Water = It floats!

But then comes the troublemaker… 😈🧼

SOAP!

When we add a drop of dish soap, the soap molecules interfere with the attraction between the water molecules. They basically tell the water molecules, “Okay guys, let’s spread out!”

The surface tension weakens…

💧 The molecular “skin” breaks apart…

🪡 And DOWN GOES THE NEEDLE!

🧠 What did we just learn?

Cohesion: Water molecules are attracted to other water molecules.
Surface tension: That attraction creates a strong surface “skin.”
Soap: Soap disrupts those attractions and lowers the surface tension.

✨ This is why hands-on science is so powerful!

Instead of just memorizing the words *cohesion* and *surface tension*, students can **SEE the molecules’ behavior in action**.

One bowl of water.
One needle.
One drop of soap.
One BIG chemistry lesson. 🔬💧
