Spiderluf

Spiderluf A page dedicated to the amazing world of Spiders! Graphic Designer by day, Spiderlover 24/7. So I changed the name of this page.

I created this page to share my passion for all Arachnids and their incredible lives. Update: And then I realized ... I love all bugs and even reptiles and want to talk about them too. I create graphics and artwork about spiders to educate people, in hopes they'll start to look at spiders in a more positive and curious light. I'd love to work with other arachnid fanatics, museums, zoos, and educat

Leucauge argyrobapta, the orchard orb weaver, is a species of long-jawed orb weaver. They have such pretty colors on her abdomen and beautiful green legs!
I wish I could have gotten closer to these beauties, but they tend to make their webs higher up and have a messy trip wire web below. Their webs are quite fascinating, the pristine circular web they rest on and a crazy 'security system' below that goes in all different directions and covered about 5 inches below the home web. 🕷❤️

It's been a while!
Back in May-ish, I took photos of this beautiful egg sac hatching (I believe they're garden spider (Argiope aurantia) babies) playing around with my macro lens and camera settings.

Every 5 seconds or so, the mass of spiderlings would "pulse" with them repositioning themselves. It took about a week for them all to balloon and fly away.

It's amazing how they look like they have their own little universe.

I watched this lovely lady (leg span about as big as my hand) pick leaves out of her web this morning.
This is kindof like a spider making it's bed.

Most spiders clean and repair their webs every morning and again around dusk.

What do spiders and llamas have in common?!
They both spit! .. well, at least one spider species does.

The Spitting Spiders - Scytodidae - spit balls of venomy-spider silk liquid at their target that congeals on contact.

You might recall, silk usually comes out the other end.
By some spider magic, these spiders are able to direct silk-making liquid to their venom glands.

Ok. Maybe not *exactly* like llamas.
