Purpose:
The play dough-making activity gives children an opportunity to develop practical life skills, fine-motor coordination, sensory awareness, and independence through a hands-on experience.

Aims:

* 🖐️ Strengthen fine-motor skills through mixing, kneading, rolling, and shaping.
* 🥄 Develop hand-eye coordination and control of movement.
* 🧠 Encourage concentration, sequencing, and following steps independently.
* 👃👋 Provide a rich sensory experience through texture, smell, and touch.
* 🔢 Introduce early math concepts such as measuring, counting, and quantities.

This Montessori work appears to be a dimension-comparison and sensorial extension activity using three classic Sensorial materials:

* Red Rods – develop the child’s visual discrimination of length, from shortest to longest.
* Brown Stair (Broad Stair) – develops discrimination of width/thickness, from thickest to thinnest.
* Pink Tower – develops discrimination of dimension/volume, from largest cube to smallest cube.

In the picture, the child is exploring the relationship between different dimensions by placing the materials together. This is an extension work, rather than the traditional presentation of any one material.

Exploring the Montessori Decanomial Square 🟥

Today, our learner is working with the Montessori Decanomial Square—a beautiful hands-on material that brings multiplication and mathematical patterns to life.

Through carefully arranging the colored squares and rectangles, children develop concentration, visual discrimination, pattern recognition, spatial awareness, and an understanding of multiplication and square numbers.

Today our little learner explored numbers, number formation, and mathematical quantities through hands-on Montessori work. 🔢✨

Using number cards, a writing board, and Montessori materials, he practiced recognizing numbers, tracing and writing them, and connecting numerals with quantity. This type of work helps develop number sense, fine-motor skills, concentration, coordination, and independence—all while making learning engaging and meaningful. 💚

Our toddler classroom was full of energy, curiosity, and joyful learning today! 🌈 From hands-on activities and creative play to circle time, music, movement, and lots of smiles, our little explorers stayed busy discovering new things every step of the way.
