Irving High Academic Decathlon

Time to finally let the cat out of the bag. 2020 changed everything, including my mental health. I’ve loved these 13 of my 16 years as a teacher, but it’s time to see what else is out there. I will now focus on continuing my career as an Irving Tiger and being a more involved teacher!

Very successful Academic Decathlon state tournament. Students won 11 medals and #1 at SuperQuiz Relay. Great weekend but we are all tired.

Your Irving High Tiger Academic Decathlon Team took the 1st place award in SuperQuiz Relay at State Tournament in Frisco!

2022 Academic Decathlon state tournament. Our 7th in a row. At this point we knew we were on a roll but competition in our state was getting way harder.

Our 6th year to state was certainly eventful and full of things we had never experienced before. 2021 and social distancing, facilities still being closed. This kept us from traveling and we had to have State from Irving High School.

Milestone year, our 5th year to state, and the year of Covid, 2020. As soon as we got back home from San Antonio the world began to shut down. And our topic that year was health and diseases. A little weird.

Our 2019 Academic Decathlon team, our 4th trip to State and 3rd trip to San Antonio! At this point we were getting used to the hotel and San Antonio area well.

This was our 3rd trip in a row to state, 2018, and 2nd trip to San Antonio. Another great year and great team.

Continuing to celebrate our 10th year at state tournament, this was our 2017 academic Decathlon team, our 2nd trip to State, our 1st trip to San Antonio.
