I’m so blessed that I don’t look like what I’ve been through. 🙏🏽✨🙌🏽

18 years ago, I was unhoused, sleeping in my car with my toddler. 🚗💔 But I refused to let my circumstances define me. I kept going. I kept believing. I kept trusting God. 🙏🏽💪🏽✨

Fast forward 5 degrees later 🎓🎓🎓🎓🎓 and now I’m running for School Board! 🗳️📚 The rest is history! 🙌🏽🔥

But this journey is bigger than me. ❤️‍🔥 I will continue saying it: OUR STUDENTS DESERVE BETTER! 📚✏️🎓💛🖤

📚❤️ Service to children matters.

From 2014–2021, I had the honor of serving as a school counselor at Great Kirk Elementary in West Fresno. 🦁🦁

For 7 years, I created a safe, welcoming space where students felt seen, valued, and supported. I partnered with teachers through coaching, professional development, social-emotional learning, and classroom support because serving students means supporting the adults who serve them too. 🍎✨I supported families through parent education coffee hour ☕️✨

I don’t just talk about making a difference. I’ve spent years doing the work. 💛 Service has never been about me; it’s about helping others reach their full potential. That’s the same servant leadership I’ll bring as your next FUSD Board Trustee for Area 1 – Edison Region. 💙📚

Artifacts matter. 📝📚💙

This is a letter ✍🏽 I wrote to the parole board in 1997 when I was just 14 years old. My father had been incarcerated in a Texas prison for about two years, and I pleaded for him to be transferred to California so our family could visit him more often. ❤️🏡

Looking back, I realize I was already an advocate. 🙏🏽💪🏽 My lived experiences shaped my heart for service and my passion for standing up for others. 🌟

Today, countless students are navigating the pain of parental incarceration. 💔👧🏽👦🏽 They deserve wraparound supports 🤝, caring adults ❤️, and opportunities to thrive despite the challenges they face. 📖🎓✨

I’ve been advocating since I was a child, and I’ll bring that same passion 🔥, leadership 💼, and determination 💙 to ensure every student has the support they need to reach their greatest potential. 🌱📚

Because this isn’t political… it’s personal. 💙🏡✨

🏆 In 2021, I was honored to receive the Distinguished Community Leader Award from Hand in Hand Mentoring, an award voted on by my community. ❤️ I didn’t receive it for talking about the work. I received it because I was doing the work with children and families. 👧🏽👦🏽📚

🌟 In 2023, I was honored with the 40 Under 40 Business Award from Business Leaders TV, recognizing outstanding business professionals in the Central Valley. 💼 This award was voted on by my peers, making it especially meaningful. 🤝

✨ This year, I was also recognized as one of the Top 20 Women of Impact, another honor voted on by community members. 💛

Since 2018, I’ve served students and families through the I AM VALUABLE Mentoring Program. 💙 My guiding principle is simple: service. 🙌🏽

This campaign isn’t about me. ❤️ It’s about our children, our families, and the future of Area 1. Leadership isn’t about titles or awards—it’s about showing up, serving others, and creating lasting impact. 🏫✨

Area 1 deserves proven leadership rooted in service. I’m ready to continue serving the community that raised me. ❤️🗳️

✨ These letters remind me that your past does not define your future.

I was born to teen parents. My parents spent much of my childhood in jail and prison. I grew up in foster care and had an ACEs score of 8 by the age of 7. Yet, none of those circumstances stopped me. 🙏🏾

Because of God’s grace and my village ❤️, I became an Honor Roll student, made the Merit List, and served as captain of the Edison Lady Tigers while becoming one of California’s top basketball scorers. 🏀📚

Today, I serve the same community that raised me through Fresno Unified and my nonprofit. I know what our students are facing because I’ve lived it. 💙

Our children deserve leaders with both lived experience and proven expertise. I’m ready to fight for every child to reach their highest potential. 📚✨ Vote Dr. Ricks 🗳️ because our students deserve the best 🌟
