Consider this analogy: Why do we brush our teeth multiple times daily? It's not because we enjoy it, but because we understand its importance and the consequences of neglecting it. Thus, we develop a routine that ensures we do it consistently.

Similarly, the key to helping students become proficient readers is to rewire their current study habits and work ethic so that they naturally engage in beneficial activities. When learning becomes easier, they naturally enjoy it more and become proficient.

1) Invest in your child's education outside of school to provide accountability and help them develop better habits. For instance, incorporate a nightly story before bed to demonstrate the value of reading.
