Iāve been a fan of Spooky Lakes for years, so when they released some prints I went to check them out. The moment I saw this print I knew it needed a little SHINE. This is my first time adding something to someone elseās art, and I feel a little mixed about it- but the final result was WORTH IT. Absolutely gorgeous image, enhanced with a little 23k gold leaf.

Our work is in the news! Lately we've had the unique privilege to do repair work to a First Edition, hand-signed Albert Einstein book. Absolutely fascinating and rewarding work.

I know things have been quiet lately, but that is because weāve been working hard! Iād like to show you our current project, a hand signed first edition Albert Einstein that had been in a fire. We have been busy cleaning each page of soot, and carefully reinforcing the pages with the worst damage. The most challenging aspect so far has been cleaning the soot off of Einsteinās signature. Using a microscope, tweezers, and tiny bits of erasers and cotton, the signature is being carefully cleaned.
This incredible artifact belongs to , a geodesic dome house museum that remembers the legacy of its former owner and designer, the architect and designer Buckminster Fuller.

Hey friends! Iām streaming at work today, and Iāll be goofing about today a bit.
Mr. Walter E. Piatt
Chief Executive Officer
Wounded Warrior Project
4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300
Jacksonville, FL 32256
Dear Mr. Piatt,
Iām writing to urge the Wounded Warrior Project to take a firm, public stance on an issue that is quietly stripping opportunities from disabled veterans and veteran business owners. Recent federal policy shifts have put diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives under attackāand whether or not policymakers recognize it, veteransā programs are DEI programs.
Your organization already leads vital efforts to bridge the gaps that leave veterans at a systemic disadvantage. Programs like Warrior Care Network, Independence Program, and Warriors to Work are not charityāthey are corrections for the institutional barriers veterans face in employment, healthcare, and entrepreneurship. These programs exist for the same reasons DEI initiatives do: because without intervention, entire groups of peopleāpeople who have already given so muchāwill be left behind.
Veteransā employment struggles are a textbook example of a systemic disadvantage. Many service members transition out of the military with skills that donāt fit neatly into civilian job descriptions, despite years of leadership, crisis management, and operational expertise. Without structured hiring preferences or transition programs, many veterans find themselves overlooked in favor of civilians who check the conventional boxes. That is exactly what DEI initiatives are meant to correct.
Veteran business owners face the same institutional challenges that other underserved entrepreneurs do. Frequent relocations, reliance on military benefits, and gaps in traditional employment history often mean weaker credit profiles and fewer funding opportunities. Programs like SDVOSB set-asides exist for the same reason as minority and women-owned business initiatives: to level a playing field that has never been level in the first place.
The contradiction here is glaring. Many of the same policymakers who champion veteransā initiatives are turning their backs on DEIāwithout realizing they are one and the same. If DEI policies are discarded, veteransā programs will suffer the fallout. That is why the Wounded Warrior Project needs to be at the table at every lobbying event, at every policy discussion, pushing this reality into the conversation. Every time a politician or corporate leader claims to support veterans while rejecting DEI, they need to be confronted with the truth: You cannot support one and dismantle the other.
The Wounded Warrior Project is one of the most powerful voices for veterans in this country. That voice needs to be loud, direct, and impossible to ignore. This isnāt just about protecting your programsāitās about making it clear to policymakers and the public that backing away from DEI is backing away from veterans.
I appreciate the work WWP does every day. Now is the time to take it a step furtherābecause if this message isnāt driven home now, the consequences will be felt for years to come.
A member, business owners, and voter,

Kids scribbling in books? I know book owners, librarians, and parents cringe, but personally, I love it.
As a conservator, Iāve seen evidence of children defacing books as far back as Iāve workedāmy oldest so far was from 1726, and even that had some scribbles. And honestly? I think itās awesome.
The idea that blank pages should stay blank is actually pretty modern. Before the Industrial Revolution, paper was too valuable to waste. If you had a book with empty space, you used itāfor math, notes, doodles, whatever needed recording. Look at a collection of old documents and I am certain you'll see some random mathematics or notes in a blank space.
āļø Even paper sizes werenāt standardized. If you needed a letter, you cut a piece to size. Courthouse archives are full of important legal documents scrawled across whatever rectangle was handy.
š But now? Weāre so paper-rich we can do one long division problem on a fresh sheet and toss it like itās nothing.
So when I see 300-year-old books with little kid scribbles? I donāt see damageāI see history.
