The agenda for Monday’s work session has been posted. Please note there’s limited public comments at all meetings now.
The limit is to 5 speakers limited to the topics on our agenda (these limits are NOT for our traditional regular meetings). If you need to speak on a different topic, please contact the chair and ask for an exception.
I have been advocating for years to have public comments at every meeting. This was a compromise I needed to make to get this to pass at our last meeting.
It is my hope this proves a valuable opportunity for the public and in a year or so, the board can address these limits going forward.

I get multiple questions a week to see if I know anyone organizing about data centers coming to our area.
This group was sent to me. I cannot vouch for it, but this is the only thing I have seen so far. If there are others focused on Spotsylvania, please lmk

NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lt. Col. Delbert Myrick
Investigation Underway After Juvenile Shot Inside Residence
Spotsylvania County, VA - On June 9, 2026, deputies with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Lee Street in reference to a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 12-year-old male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. Deputies immediately rendered lifesaving first aid while coordinating a traffic plan to facilitate the rapid transport of the victim. Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management personnel arrived on scene very quickly and transported the juvenile to a local hospital.
The juvenile remains in critical, but stable condition.
The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and is actively investigating the incident. The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred inside the residence when several juveniles were handling a firearm and it discharged, striking the victim. No adults were home at the time. Detectives are continuing to work closely with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
We would like to commend the swift and coordinated response by members of the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office and Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management. Their professionalism, training, and teamwork were instrumental in saving the life of this young victim.
This investigation remains active and ongoing. We ask the community to keep the juvenile in their thoughts and wish them a safe and speedy recovery.
This incident serves as an important reminder to all firearm owners to ensure fi****ms are properly secured and kept out of the reach of children. Responsible firearm storage can help prevent tragic accidents and save lives.
