I am excited and a bit overwhelmed. I was just asked to cover the Virginia Class 6 swimming championships on February 21.
It will be the 16th time in the past 20 years I have been asked to/have covered this event. But the overwhelming part is…40 years ago to that very day I was given my first professional writing assignment…a girls’ basketball game at my high school when I was a high school sophomore. From there I have covered numerous state title events in various sports, professional (minor and major league baseball) and professional golf.

Excited to say I have done it for 40 years.
