Our ❤️’s were full at The Funny Farm Animal Rescue 🐷🐐🐴🐾🐓!!

The students organized + hosted a drive/fundraiser during Delsea’s Achievement Night, gathering animal supplies + monetary donations.

~ supplies/toys;
~ $103 cash donation

We had the chance to make a trip on Tuesday to deliver our donated items AND meet some of the 🐐🐓🐕‍🦺 recipients!!! Truly a full circle moment!! ❤️

We had a sweet 🍦 start to our week, enjoying a CBI visit to meet the leadership from the ‘Raising the Bar with Sweet Opportunities’ Ice Cream Truck and Hurley’s Heroes nonprofit inclusion social club!

‘Raising the Bar with Sweet Opportunities’, founded on the principals that ‘Anything is Popsicle 🍡’ , is an ice cream truck operation on a mission to provide hands on training + employment opportunities for adults with special needs. We learned that they cater different events such as fundraisers; schools; private events; and employee appreciation activities, and are proud of the exceptional service and JOY that their employees share across the community!

We took a tour of the ice cream truck and learned about their POS system; inventory; and the unique learning experiences available for their adult employees. We topped off the visit with a choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream + the chance to socialize and hear directly from one of their employees 🍧.

As our students continue to hone valuable hands on knowledge from our job placement sites, the chance to meet an organization focused entirely on inclusion and employment opportunities for special needs adults, was a truly meaningful experience . ❤️

The final visit to GCIT for the academic year was refreshing + filled with creativity, and the perfect way to apply life skill knowledge! 💈🍪💅

The day started in the bakery with Ms Clark and her culinary students, using industrial kitchen supplies to bake sugar cookies!!!! It was exciting to see the raw dough transition into tasty + colorful 🍪, and creative way to practice our listening + communication skills.

Once again, our students selected + received outstanding services from the cosmetology students, under the direction of Ms Katie Arnold. From cuts + blowouts to paraffin hand waxing, we were reminded of HOW GREAT it feels to focus on personal hygiene and grooming! Happy retirement, Ms. Arnold!

….Kindness runs deep in Mrs Dolby’s family, as evidenced today by the ‘special delivery’ our students received from her sister (Cathy Wasco Miller), ALL the way from South Korea!!!

Ms Miller’s spouse (Erik) and children (Grace + Reagan), are temporarily residing in South Korea while Mr Miller is bravely serving our country.

Desirous to share a little ‘taste’ of their new ‘culture’ , Ms Miller surprised our students with savory + sweet South Korean treats and personalized/handwritten notes!!

The delicious treats, ranging from chocolate 🍫, 🍪, and gummy 🍬were such a special surprise and MOST appreciated!!! Examining Google Earth and distance estimation between ‘sisters’ rounded out an afternoon filled with new flavors and appreciation for cultural differences and similarities! ❤️🤍

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to GCIT and the Cosmetology Clinic (New Image Salon) students and educators, for another fantastic salon experience. 💈💅🪮

Following a review of their extensive menu of salon services, our students ‘booked’ their service of choice, with a focus on personal hygiene, 🫧🚿 and salon etiquette navigation!!

From fresh hair cuts and facials, to paraffin hand wax and beard care, we left feeling refreshed and reminded of the importance of self care….AND…just in time to add to final NJ DECA State Competition preparations!! ✨

The 🏈 Super Bowl LX 🏈 celebration gave us the chance to put life skills knowledge and teamwork values (learned from our job placements), to the test! Our class discussion + brainstorming session generated a variety of dish ideas, resulting in two rounds of voting to finalize our ✨party menu ✨. Grocery shopping + dish preparations were creative ways for our students to focus on collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

Our students prepared + served the following:
*ham/cheese/pepperoni sliders 🍔*queso dip + cracker bowls 🧀
*party trail mix 🍿🍫;
*🏈 shaped cookies 🍪

Sharing a meal + games with our friends from the SAVE Program, made for a FANTASTIC Friday 🎉.

It gives us GREAT pleasure to extend a CONGRATULATIONS to each of our 18-21 Delsea B.R.I.D.G.E. Academy students on their recent participation in the NJ DECA District Competition, within the Supermarket and Retail Career Categories!!! Armed with newfound knowledge obtained from job placement experiences, mock interview preparation, and polished resumes, our students ✨SHINED ✨ during the personal interview + role play phases of competition.

Damien Lerner, Joann Picchi, and Stephen Pierce were recognized as Retial Career District Finalists, and will now advance to the state competition in March!! 🏆❤️🤍🏆

Our 18-21 B.R.I.D.G.E. Academy enjoyed a variety of holiday celebrations to help bid farewell to ‘25! We joined our friends from Glassboro and Collingswood at the Schalick Reach Academy, for a ‘Friendsmas Pajama Party’! The ‘White Elephant ’ gift exchange, hot cocoa bar, and dance party was the perfect day to make special memories!! We planned ahead by budgeting and reviewing the menu in advance of our annual Friendly’s Holiday Lunch, and ended the week with a surprise visit from our ⚾️‘Baseball Superstar’, 🌟Mason Maxwell 🌟!! He brought awesome gifts from ‘ALL Abilities’ Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation + personal notes for each student, he was the best addition to our class party!!! 🎄❤️🤍🎉.t
