What if school didn’t dull curiosity — but sharpened it?
Children are naturally curious.
They ask questions.
They build.
They experiment.
They want to understand how things work.
Good schools don’t suppress that curiosity, they channel it.
At Waypoint, curiosity isn’t treated as a distraction, it’s treated as fuel.
Fuel for meaningful work.
Fuel for responsibility.
Fuel for deeper mastery.
School should feel alive.

Waypoint Academy
Waypoint Academy is a small, learner-driven elementary school serving families in the Franklin area. Opening Fall 2026 with founding families.
What happens if a learner falls behind?
First, no one moves forward on shaky ground. Progress is based on demonstrated mastery — not age or pacing charts.
If a learner struggles, several things happen:
Classmates step in.
Guides ask questions instead of giving answers.
Goals are revisited and adjusted.
Progress is tracked openly and reflected on regularly.
Falling behind isn’t the problem. Evasion is.
In a learner-driven studio, peers hold one another accountable. Guides coach and uphold standards. Learners reflect honestly on whether they met their goals — and why.
Independence isn’t built by removing support.
It’s built by shifting responsibility gradually — within clear expectations.

Most schools work very hard to help children succeed in school.
We built Waypoint to help children succeed in life.
Over the years I’ve worked with many students who were bright and hardworking, yet unsure how to manage their time, approach difficult problems, or learn from mistakes without constant direction. They had learned how to comply, and hadn’t learned how to lead themselves.
Waypoint Academy exists to offer a different path — built on trust in children, clear standards, and real responsibility.
Here, learners:
• set goals
• manage their time
• reflect on mistakes
• and grow through effort
This isn’t school as performance, it’s school as preparation for life.
