Although Energy Express has come to an end, the fun continues today at the Pendleton County Library!

Throughout the summer, we had the opportunity to visit the library's Summer Reading Program, and many of our Energy Express students earned tickets by tracking the time they spent reading. Those tickets were entered into prize drawings for some awesome rewards!

The Summer Reading Celebration Party begins at 12:00 p.m. today, and we hope everyone who participated is able to join in the fun. Congratulations to all of our readers for the time and effort they put into reading this summer. Keep reading, keep learning, and have an amazing time celebrating! 📚🎉

Week 6 newsletters and Experience Learning letters were sent home with the children yesterday.

We hope everyone stayed safe during last night's storms. As we receive updates and finalize plans for the remainder of the week, we will keep everyone informed of any changes.

*UPDATE* Energy Express will be closed today for students. Mentors, Site Coordinator, and Community Coordinator will still report on a delayed schedule.

Pendleton County Energy Express will be operating on a 2 hour delay tomorrow, July 22, due to widespread power outages, and storm damage throughout the county. Students should arrive at the school by 10 AM. Busses will run on the 2 hr delay schedule in the morning. We will dismiss at the normal time.

Each year, Energy Express Sites around the state pick a community service project for the AmeriCorps members to complete as a way to help give back to their communities.

This year, mentors picked showing appreciation to our First Responders. They put together thank you bags, along with a few tokens of their appreciation. Yesterday they toured the county and hand delivered to all the fire and rescue stations throughout Pendleton County.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who give their time to their communities through their selfless acts of service. Our county is lucky to have volunteers like you!

Time is running out to get your chances to help support Pendleton County Energy Express! Tickets can be purchased at tonight's open house, online through Zeffy (https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/pendleton-county-energy-express-raffle), or at the Pendleton County Extension Office!

Tickets are $10 a piece and all proceeds go to the Pendleton County Energy Express Program!

Last Thursday, we were excited to welcome Phoebe and Ava from the Pendleton County Middle/High School Volleyball Team to Energy Express. They spent time reading with the children and sharing their love of books.

After story time, they joined one of our classes for recreation time, where they played games, laughed, and had fun together. The children loved spending time with these student-athletes and appreciated the opportunity to connect with members of our school community.

We are thankful to Phoebe and Ava for taking time out of their day to encourage our young readers and make Energy Express even more special!
