The treatments have officially begun! Shelley got her port placed yesterday and got her first round of chemo today.
After weeks of waiting, it feels we can finally go on the offensive in this fight against cancer. Full updates on Shelley’s . Link in bio.
Please join us in praying for this beautiful warrior!

I want to introduce you to my wife, Shelley — and ask you to do something for her.
For years, Shelley has been my teacher. If you've ever heard me talk about supplements, clean nutrition, getting real exercise, protecting your sleep and circadian rhythm, getting morning sunlight — almost everything I know, I learned from her. She's a health coach, and more than that, she's the person who actually lives it every single day. She raised six children (yes, six — all by C-section), rebuilt her own health after a thyroid battle following her last pregnancy, and turned everything she learned into a calling: helping other people feel their best. If you met Shelley a month ago, you'd have walked away thinking, "Now THAT is what healthy looks like." By every outward measure, she was the picture of health.
And then, two weeks ago, everything changed.
What started as something small and easy to brush off led to a test, and that test led to a scan, and that scan led to four words no one is ever ready to hear: stage 4 cancer. From feeling fine to a serious diagnosis in a matter of days. The whiplash of it is hard to put into words.
But here's what you need to know about Shelley: she is not facing this with fear. She is facing it with a fight — and with her faith.
That faith is the ground she's standing on right now. This morning she had her port placed, and tomorrow she begins her very first treatment. And honestly? She is ready. Ready to stop waiting and start fighting. Through all of it, Shelley keeps coming back to the same truth — that God is with her, that she is not walking this road alone, and that she is overwhelmed, in the best way, by the love and prayers being lifted on her behalf.
That's where you come in.
Shelley believes deeply in the power of prayer, and so do I. Would you take a moment today to lift her up? Pray for her treatment to work, for her body to stay strong, for peace and faith over our family, and for nothing short of a full and complete healing. Every single prayer matters, and she feels them.
You can follow Shelley's journey — and leave her a word of encouragement — on her CaringBridge page: 👉 https://www.caringbridge.org/site/4b5fb66f-5496-11f1-9d1b-fd0442674ac9
All the ways to support Shelley are on her CaringBridge page as well. But more than anything, the ask today is simple: pray. Let's surround Shelley with so much faith and so many prayers that she can feel them with every step of this journey. 💛
Would you also consider sharing this post with the prayer warriors you know?
Thank You!

We certainly were blindsided by this diagnosis, but know that nothing has surprised our Heavenly Father.
Shelley is having biopsy done right now and we will finally have an answer concerning how soon we can start treatment.
We have been carried by your prayers! Please keep them coming.
Thanks so much to those who have already given to help offset costs. Link in bio to Shelley’s GoFundMe page.

It is hard to type these words. My wife, Shelley, has been diagnosed with cancer.
Over the past two weeks, blood work, an ultrasound, and a CT scan revealed multiple masses on her liver, a tumor on her colon, and a small spot on her lung. Yesterday she and I sat with Dr. Julie Means at Tennessee Oncology Group for the first formal conversation about diagnosis and treatment. The working diagnosis is advanced colorectal cancer. Biopsies, a PET scan, and a colonoscopy this week will confirm the specifics and shape the treatment plan.
If you have known Shelley for any length of time, you know her instinct is to care for everyone else first. Being the one cared for is the hardest part of this for her. Please pray for her body, her spirit, and for her ability to receive love right now.
We have set up a CaringBridge page where a small group of Shelley’s closest friends will post updates — what is happening medically, what to pray for, and how to help. That is the central place for everything moving forward. Link in bio.
We are leaning hard on Jesus and on the people He has placed around us. He is good. She is His. We trust Him with whatever comes next.

Mom — today’s for you. Thank you for the love that shaped me, the prayers you’ve prayed when I didn’t know I needed them, and the steady presence that has always felt like home. The older I get, the more I see how much of who I am is because of who you’ve been. I love you. Happy Mother’s Day! 💐

I’ve attended and participated in a good many sporting events in my 50+ years, but today was a first. Spent the day at Cyber Con, Tennessee’s esports State Championship. Congratulations to Samuel and the Rocket League Team for taking 2nd place at the event.

Happy Valentine’s Day Shelley!
You are stunning. And I don’t just mean that in the way the world uses the word.
Yes, your beauty turns heads.
Yes, you light up every room you walk into.
But what truly captivates me is the beauty beneath the surface.
Your kindness is steady. It’s not performative. It’s not strategic. It’s who you are. You move toward people when others pull back. You see the overlooked. You make space for the insecure. You carry strength without sharp edges.
Your compassion is fierce. You feel deeply, and you love intentionally. As a health coach, you don’t just teach habits — you shepherd people toward wholeness. You fight for their well-being like it matters. Because to you, it does.
And your mind…
Your depth in theology continues to humble me. You don’t reduce faith to soundbites. You wrestle. You study. You sit in mystery without panic. You hold truth with conviction and grace at the same time — and that combination is rare.
Every day you teach me something about grace.
Not the sentimental version. The real thing.
Patience. Mercy. Listening. Soft answers. Courageous love.
You are a deep well.
Not shallow. Not surface. Not predictable.
And I look forward to drawing from that well for many, many years to come — discovering new layers, new wisdom, new beauty as we walk this life together.
I thank God for you.
I honor you.
And I choose you — again and again.
Forever yours. ❤️

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.””
Luke 2:10-12 ESV
Fear not. That’s where the good news always begins. In a world still ruled by anxiety, striving, and noise, God chose a manger—not a throne—to make His move. No fanfare. No flex. Just glory wrapped in humility. This Savior didn’t come to impress the powerful; He came to rescue the weary. Christ the Lord stepped into our mess so joy could step into our lives—not someday, not after we get it together, but this day. Let that land. The answer to fear has already arrived.
