๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿงช Let's get hands-on! K-5 AG LABS ARE HERE! ๐Ÿงช๐ŸŒพ

What happens when you take an agriculture commodity from the field, farm, or flockโ€ฆ and turn it into something students recognize at the store? Now your students get to find out! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Weโ€™re excited to release six new hands-on Ag Labs for grades K-5, designed to put students right in the middle of the learning process:

๐ŸŽƒ Kindergarten: Turn pumpkins into PIE!
๐Ÿž 1st Grade: Make BREAD from grain!
๐ŸŒฑ 2nd Grade: Plant SOYBEAN seeds and explore what grows!
๐ŸŽ 3rd Grade: Turn apples into APPLESAUCE!
๐Ÿง€ 4th Grade: Make CHEESE from milk!
๐Ÿ‘ 5th Grade: Wash and DYE WOOL into colorful fiber!

Each lab helps students see the journey from RAW AGRICULTURAL GOOD โ†’ PROCESSED PRODUCT โ†’ SOMETHING THEY RECOGNIZE IN THE STORE. ๐ŸŒพโžก๏ธ๐Ÿญโžก๏ธ๐Ÿ›’

And we made them easy for teachers! Every lab includes easy-to-follow directions, student lab activity sheets, photos, videos, and resources, all connected to Kentucky Academic Standards.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ WANT TO SEE WHAT THE TELL THE AG STORY BOOK CONTEST CAN CREATE? ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“š

โœ๏ธ Author: Franklin County student Ayla Tolentino

๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“š CALLING ALL YOUNG AGRICULTURE STORYTELLERS! ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ

The Tell the Ag Story Book Contest is BACK โ€” and this yearโ€™s theme is one you wonโ€™t want to missโ€ฆ

๐Ÿโžก๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ โ€œA Goat That Thinks Itโ€™s a Sheepโ€ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‚

Students, itโ€™s time to grab your pencils, unleash your creativity, and TELL THE AG STORY!

You can enter as:
โœ๏ธ Author โ€” write the story!
๐ŸŽจ Illustrator โ€” bring the story to life!
โœ๏ธ๐ŸŽจ Author & Illustrator โ€” do BOTH!

๐Ÿ† And thereโ€™s a pretty great reason to put your creativity to workโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ’ฐ The winning author earns $500!
๐Ÿ’ฐ The winning illustrator earns $500!

The contest is made possible through a partnership between the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Kentucky Sheep and Goat Development Office (KSGDO).

KSGDO supports and promotes Kentuckyโ€™s sheep and goat industries by providing leadership, resources, and support to producers across the Commonwealth. As Kentuckyโ€™s hub for small-ruminant information, KSGDO connects producers and consumers while helping grow the future of sheep and goat agriculture. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ๐ŸŒพ

Soโ€ฆ can you tell the story of a goat who REALLY thinks itโ€™s a sheep? ๐Ÿ‘€

We canโ€™t wait to see what Kentuckyโ€™s young storytellers create! And teachers, we've got your back! Lesson plans, resources, and templates are all done for you! Get them in the School Handbook at: www.kyagr.com/AgEdWeek
