Legend of Boggy Creek Fun Runs 5K September 28, 2013 Site and Course:
All runs begin and end at the Fouke High School football stadium at Red Cut and Paulette Smith Road.

The start and finish is on the grass with the main course on paved roads. Directions:
From Texarkana 549 south (towards Shreveport) to North Fouke, Exit 18, left over ramp; right on US 71; first left on Red Cut road to stadium. From Shreveport, AR 549 North toward Texarkana, Exit 16, toward Fouke is Monster Expressway/US 71 N; turn right on Red Cut Road to Stadium. Starting Times:

9:00 am- 6 & under Munchkin 1/2 mile run (an adult may accompany the child at no cost)
9:15 am- One Mile Youth Run (Age Groups: 7&8; 9&10; 11&12; 13&14)

$50.00 each to 5K top overall Male and Female Finisher and top Masters Male and Female finishers. (Note; Inter scholastic athletes are ineligible to receive monetary awards)

5K age grouping:
19 & under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50 & over; 60 & over. Awards to top 2 males and females in all age groups and in all age group youth runs. Special recognition for participants wearing costumes. First 300 participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Refreshments at the finish line. Launius, Watkins win 3rd Annual Legend of Boggy Creek 5K
FOUKE, Ark. – Joshua Launius and Elizabeth Watkins were the overall winners of the 3rd Annual Legend of Boggy Creek Monster 5K run held Saturday. Launius won this race in 2011, but was edged out by David Carl of Texarkana in 2012. Launius, this year held off top Maters Runner Chet Kennedy and David Carl for the top honors this year with a time of 19:06. Kennedy set a new Male Master’s course record with a time of 19:13 erasing Steve Campiso’s 2011 time of 19:37. Elizabeth Watkins, Lockesburg, Arkansas not only won the Female Open Division, but shattered Jenny Foster’s 2011 course record by 1 minute 23 seconds with a solid time of 21:42 for the 3.1 mile course. Launius, Kennedy, Watkins and top Master’s Female winner Deanna Crabtree, 36:57, each were awarded $50 cash prize with their medal. 115 competitors competed this year.

Kendall Haworth, from Texarkana, Arkansas won the Munchkin half-mile run for girls, ages 6 and under, in 4:51. Kendall was followed by Ruby Duzan, Izabella Faulknor, Alex Endris and Ellee Purchase. The top Munchkin half-mile boy winner was Chris Kennedy of Texarkana, Texas in 5:04. Crossing the finish line after Chris were Garyson McAdams, Harrison Simmons, Kael Schwab and Tucker Barham. Winners in the mile youth run were: Coulter Simmons (new course record 7-8 year old boys, 8:20); Colton Hewitt (9-10 year old boys, 7:57) John Michael Tice (11-12 year old boys, 7:44); Eden Garay (9-10 year old girls, 10:08); and Genesis Garay (11-12 year old girls, 9:26). Second place finishers in these different age groups were: Trent Kreidler, 7:54; Logan Baker, 8:33; Joseph Garay, 8:58; and Nicole Kennedy, 12:21. Third place finishers in the mile run were: Sem Garay, 8:54; Braden McAdams, 10:09; and Rachel Williams, 12:22. Other finishers were: Ryan Story, 10:27; Ethan Braden, 10:30; and Mitchell Barham, 10:35.

2nd Annual Legend of Boggy Creek Monster 5K Run in Fouke, AR.

Carl and Baxley Win Monster 5K Run
Fouke, AR. - David Carl of Texarkana and Mitzi Baxley of DeKalb, Texas claimed the overall open titles at the second annual Legend of Boggy Creek Monster 5K Run. Carl set a new course record in 18 minutes and 44 seconds for the men’s best mark. Baxley completed the 3.1 mile course in 23:09.
Master’s division titles for racers 40 and over were: Chet Kennedy and Joyce Cates. Kennedy crossed the finish line in 20:09 and Cates lowered her 2011 Master’s course record by 35 seconds hitting the tape in 24:04. All four winners earned $50 cash prize and a commemorative medal.

All proceeds benefit the first public library in Fouke, Arkansas.

NOTE: There were also two youth runs. The Munchkin ½ mile run for kids 6 and under was captured by Allison Caudle of Maud, Texas with a time of 4 minutes and 33 seconds to win first place. Allison broke her 2011 record by I minute and 36 seconds. Finishing second was 4 year old Kate Lindsey in 5:07; third Jaidyn Henderson, 5:20, and fourth place went to Alexandria Endris, 5:33. In the one mile age group runs two seven year olds, Colte Baxley, 8:30, of DeKalb, Texas and Belle Lindsey, 8:31, of DeQueen, Arkansas won the 7/8 year old division. In second place was Ryan Whitaker, 9:30, and Ryan Story was third in 10:01. Trenton Kreidler, 10:19, of Hooks, Texas and Ashlyn Caudle, 11:22, of Maud, Texas won the 9/10 year old one mile run. Landon Emfinger was second to Trenton in 10:33. Kameron Jones, 7:53, of Fouke, Arkansas and Alyssa Caudle, 8:26, of Maud claimed first place in the 11/12 year old one mile run. Sydney Jones was second to Alyssa with a time of 9:09.
