No DAPL: 10 Years Later

Our students explored the 10-year anniversary of the No DAPL movement through project-based learning grounded in history, culture, community, and real-world inquiry.

Throughout the project, students:
💧 Learned about LaDonna Brave Bull Allard and her role in the movement
📖 Read We Are Water Protectors and explored the responsibility to protect water and Mother Earth
🎨 Created protest art to understand how art can amplify a message
🎥 Watched AWAKE: A Dream from Standing Rock
🧪 Sampled and examined water through hands-on learning
🗣️ Heard firsthand testimony from former SRST Tribal Council members who experienced this historic moment

Our students read about history and learned from the people, stories, land, and water connected to it.

Mni Wiconi — Water is Life. 💧

Ten years later, the lessons of Standing Rock continue through the next generation. They know the world came together for them.
